Artificial Trans Fats are oils created for cheap food preservation and as cheap replacements for more expensive ingredients such as butter. They are so toxic, even most bacteria are unable to metabolise them.
They are now thought to be extremely detrimental to human health causing increases in bad cholesterol and other negative blood factors as well as potentially contributing to development of Alzheimer's disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, liver malfunction, depression and various behaviour problems as well as upsetting the balance of friendly gut bacteria.
Many companies have woken up to the dangers of trans fats and banned them from their products, other companies have only done so in some markets hoping that in other markets less savvy consumers will let them get away with trading their consumers lives to save a few cents. (McDonalds we are looking at you!) Still other companies just plough on with their use of trans fats hoping that their consumer demographic won`t wake up to the danger.
This campaign aims to list companies who either have failed to promise to eliminate trans fats from their products in some or all markets, and to list positively companies who have committed to eliminate trans fats from their product lines.
Please help by sending your listing suggestions with a source!
