    This filter takes up less room and is an easy install. It went into a 2002 F350 with the 7.3. The original air filter assembly did not latch completely, I was using bungee cords. I put this filter set up on and drove about 200 miles the next day. I have noticed my mileage has increased about 1.2 mpg (about 18.5mpg). I only drive 55mph and shift at 1500 so that will give you perspective. The only thing to warn you about is that the clips that my original battery box screwed into were rusted out. I got a new set at Auto Zone with new bolts. This setup is a bit smaller than stock and you can easily get to the power steering fluid reservoir. Keep the old Fords going!

    I have a early 1999, built 02-1998 and this fit perfect. This filter installed easily, and is a high quality product. The only problem I had was the nuts on the bottom of the battery box were corroded and needed replacing. It would have been nice if these were included with the hardware.
    I noticed the opening on the truck in front of the air horn was half the size of the air horn. So I used a rotary file in my drill to increase the size. Running empty I am now getting 1.5 o 2 more miles per gallon. I hope this keeps up. The truck is just as quiet as before for a 7.3

    This is absolutely the VERY best filter you can install on your Powerstroke. Forget all of that K&N Cold air or stock "textbook" sized filter BS. Ford's WORST idea...to put the stock air intake in the fender well where dust galore will be picked up.... They do not filter out all of the particulate matter necessary. Not possible with a screen and a foam sock.
    This filter kit is HUGE, and fits like a glove in the compartment. Puts the intake in the grille, high above the road where it belongs.
    Should have installed one years ago!

    Price was great. Shipping was great. Came with installation instructions which were fairly clear. Photo could have been better. This item required some assembly in which a plastic tube snaps into a hole in a plastic box. The fit was exactly what you would expect from cheap plastic, not quite perfect. So while trying to carefully insert the tube in the box, it cracked. A crack about eight inches long. As this is an air filter I patched the crack with duct tape until a replacement tube arrives. Which will be a pain because to change the tube the entire assemble must be removed.

    After noticing a slight dusting problem with my oem filter housing and after days or research I decided to invest in the mororcraft kit.
    The kit came complete and ready to assemble. It was installed in about 30 minutes including the removel of the old box. ( the box is designed for better filtration. Thats the whole purpose) Looks and sounds factory. But I did see hp gains across the entire power band. Egts were lower and air flow increased.
    I took it 1 step further I installed a walker BTM muffler.
    Now is where the air box shines. The air flow is crazy. The air box can handle all the flow without the filter minder moving a bit. Even in the upper limits of my performance chip settings.
    Mileage gain with both is around 3 mpg and thats pulling a 9000 pound travel trailer

    After reading over many forums and a great bit of time on various sites pondering what mods would be best for our F350 7.3L DRW 4x4, and using Donalson products in my line of work, I decided that this setup would do the most good for air filtration and letting that diesel "breathe easier" and bring down EGTs.
    Donaldson designed this unit for Ford and they have been making air filtration systems you see on Catepillars and Semi's all over this country. At my work, I have first-hand knowledge - having gone away from paper/foam combinations offered by many small engine manufacturers as OEM and gone to Donaldson. Two ways an engine goes downhill - Don't change your oil and filter enough ( an/or use the right grade) , and don't keep the air going in clean - ...get you every time.
    This unit isn't incredibly different from what was in the truck as it was, but I feel there's much more open surface area on the new element and that's where; combined with a 4" SS exhaust system - it will perform as intended.
