The case is great for keeping the acoustic bass protected and being light weight. Perfect for walking around the city. Only down side is it hits the bike tire if your are bicycling to your destination.

I searched for quite a while to find a case which would fit my Takamine Tb-10 acoustic bass. This is the only case which provided measurements which seemed to fit the bill, In actuality, it was the ONLY case online that provided specs, interior and exterior. so I took the plunge. The case seems fairly well constructed, but it is made of Styrofoam , not foam "rubber". This probably was a blessing in disguise, because I had to modify it a bit to accept the bass comfortably. The "fur" cloth interior was fairly easily cut, so I could access the styro, and cut a bit away so that the headstock tuning gears could fit comfortably without detuning the instrument. A bit of rubber cement, and "oila" , a good fit. Also had to cut a bit away from the neckrest section, so the bass could be seated lower in the case, as it has a high doublebass-type bridge. All in all with a few simple mods, I was able to get a good fit, and I did not have to pay 2 or 3 times as much to get a custom built gigbag, The Takamine is a Hefty beast, and she destroyed a Levy's top-o the-line Acoustic bass gigbag that I possessed for several years. A very girthy bass, that Takamine.. I haven't had the opportunity to gig with the case yet as I have only had it a few days. One thing I dislike is that the shoulder straps are situated in such a manner that the bass neck rises at least 16 inches above my head, which is not that great at I live in NYC,am 6'2", and there is little clearance in subway trains. But I suppose I can have the straps re- sewn to fit my requirements. Another construction aspect that seems rather ill-conceived is the fact that the sturdy Nylon(or whatever other synthetic) cloth, does not cover the entire expanse of the case, as there is an open seam on the underside where the case opens out in clamshell fashion. Seems like it would allow moisture or grit to enter the case at this join. I don't know why the case is not entirely enclosed, must be cheaper to manufacture that way. I don't know if this might be problametic in terms of protecting the instrument, and hope not to find out the hard way. I suppose I could modify this aspect as well, but what on earth was the manufacturer thinking? When you have an instrument worth several thousand dollars, one would think that the case it inhabits should not allow any degree of moisture or debris to come in contact with it. The jury is still out on this gripe: only time will teel if this aspect of design proves to be problematic. , all in all , not ideal, but a workable way to get badly-needed coverage for my unusually large instrument, without having to pay in excess of $250.

There is not much selection out there when it comes to acoustic bass guitar cases and gig bags. I found my Gator Case/ gig bag on line and purchased at Guitar Center, San Jose, CA. The polyfoam is strong protection for my Ibanez AEB 10BE although it is not a perfect fit. Would be perfect if there were polyfoam peel off sections to custom fit major brand products. I like the gig bag type back pack straps which are perfect for airports or taking guitar to the beach. Zipper can tend to hang on the neck-to-body corners but the bag is very new so that will probably decrease with use. Overall very happy with this product. Price could be a bit lower or add the coustomization option (previously stated) and leave price the same.
