It needs some work. Otherwise great

I bought this not realizing it would be so short which is my fault, however the first time I used it I mounted it ti the front leg of my rack and the horizontal pole with clamp and snare side affixed clamp, the end in the provided multiclamp squished the pipe to and elliptical shape. Realizing this I removed it and reinforced the inside of the pipe and it works great now.

Can be awkward at first

Like all Gibraltar products, the stand is sturdy. Setup can be challenging, but is worth it. Arm could have been longer or come with a swivel option for the rack clamp. A good idea is to position your snare and bass with the rack/stand, then build around it. Adding this stand post rack setup can be challenging. I'm very picking with my setup. But the convenience of "one less thing to carry off stage" is worth a little extra effort to make it work.

I used this to eliminate the tripod of a snare stand, to bring in more closely/group the left-hand side of a double bass pedal w/the hi-hat stand. Takes some finagling to get placed well, but for permanent installation of my practice set/Gibraltar rack it was worth it. The grabber arm is too short, but GC price was low, left plenty funds to buy the 17-25" grabber arm/clamp. Used the shorter arm to place 2 leg DW hi-hat stand secured to the rack, so it all worked out. Took longer bottom leg of snare stand to interchange/lengthen longer grabber arm. Clamp worked good on rubber foot over tube, versus bare tube, to secure horizontally from rack to snare stand.

Building a hybrid kit. Started with congas, highhat, cymbals, bells, and blocks. Bandleader wanted snare. Tumba out/snare in. With the snare outside, left, the three-legged stand was too wide. This kit tightened everything up, for a fraction of the cost of buying everything separately, even with adding the Gibraltar SC-SMC (filter thought the "s" word was profanity) Multi Clamp, to replace the included rack clamp. Snare sits tightly, outside left, attached to the highhat. Conga between the knees. Cabled cajon pedal to right. Sitting on cajon, angled right for hand playing. Might be able to bring the tumba back!

People are saying it's too short. So what is the length of the horizontal bar that connects from the snare stand to your rack?
