    I love these DVDs even though they have some very difficult exercises on them. I know from my continuing classes that strength & control are needed to do well and the only way to get both is by practice & exercise. These DVDs are definitely, as I saw mentioned in another review, exercises for belly dancers. I really like Suhaila's instruction too.

    Each DVD has a focus, but all parts of the body are worked to some extent. She also adds layering in with all 4 DVDs, which is something I am working hard on right now. I skip between the Yoga, Buns, & Pilates in my home practice. There are some periods where the moves are way too fast for me to keep up, but I figure if the women in the video can do it, I should be able to do it too, so I keep on working at it. I can definitely see the value in this!

    1. The Yoga DVD is the least intensive workout and focuses on belly exercises (undulations).

    2. The Buns DVD has some very difficult exercises & some not so bad. Focus is on shimmies & hip work, standing still & moving. If I could get 2 of these, this would be my 2nd choice.

    3. The Pilates DVD seemed to be more all-over, with some very difficult (for me) leg work & good stretches. If I could only get one of these, this would be it.

    4. The Jazz DVD is too difficult for me now, but I'll try it again in a few months to see if I can do it.

    If you are looking for choreography and a wide selection of belly dance moves, look elsewhere. If you are looking for some intense exercises to help you with strength & control in your belly dance - these are GREAT!

    Before I start of praising this series I would like to say that before starting to work with these DVD's I have had bellydancing lessons for half a year, once a week. And I think it's very recommendable to take lessons first so you know how everything works and are actually able to keep up with this. It's really meant for beginners and not people who aren't beginners yet.
    This serie was reccomended to me by some of my bellydance class mates and my bellydance teacher, who actually learned from Suhaila herself.
    I think Suhaila is a wonderful teacher and the workouts are just perfect, sometimes I even do two a day just because I like them and because they really work. I haven't lost much weight since I started two weeks ago but the shape of my body has changed and I'm starting to change sizes. Also I feel very fit and energized and everyday movements are starting to cost me less energy. My bellydancing teacher also noticed that I was picking up things easier and suggested to make some of the excercises harder for myself because they weren't really hard anymore.
    One thing I really like about these DVD's is that she really seems to know what difficulties you might be having during the work outs. For example she knows if something takes up a lot of concentration you might forget to breath. She pinpoints the exact moments I'm having those problems, very well done!
    Once again, these DVD's are not meant for people with no bellydance experience at all. But for people like me who have already started out, it's great, her speed is quite scary sometimes but I suggest to just take it at your own pace. I love the fusion with other disciplines!

    I really like the bellydance part but it is the same on all 4 discs. I like the jazz DVD and the pilates DVD. She initially had a dbd that was similar to the jazz one and I liked it much better. But for the price and for the novice they are very good

    This is a challenging set and a challenging technique format. Suhaila's technique is a modification and innovation of the traditional belly dance format crafted by dancers over hundreds of years. Her format is very athletic and sensual, and is the basis for a great many belly dancers today, to include Rachel Brice, Asharah and others. I would call Suhaila Salimpour the Vaganova of modern belly dance.

    Keeping that in mind, this isn't a fitness video, but rather a series of toning, stretching and strengthening exercises needed by serious belly dance students in preparation for more intensive study in the Suhaila Salimpour format (she offers classes, workshops and certification at her studio in CA and occasionally on tour). This is an absolute must have for the serious belly dance student, particularly fusion dancers.

    The DVDs are enjoyable to work with and are laid out pretty well for the user. Many of the workouts are not 100% achievable right out the gate, but that is why they are for beginners: this is what you need to work up to. The isolation exercises on the Buns DVD in particular is very difficult, but I replayed the section until I was comfortable isolating those muscles and then moved at my own pace. I am not up to the same speed she is, but I'm improving quickly. Moving at your own pace is key here, so don't get frustrated.

    My only critique of the series is that Suhaila doesn't break down for the dancer what the isolations are supposed to feel like; what should it feel like if I am isolating my gluteal muscles satisfactorily? Where would she recommend I target when isolating those muscles (tighten here, not there etc.) That would have been very helpful. A good way to over come that is to set up a mirror ($20 stand alone set up against the wall from Walmart is fine)...do you like like they do in the video? If you do, there's a pretty good chance you're doing it correctly.

    Suhaila est très connue et pour moi une des meilleure professeur au monde depuis l'engouement pour la danse orientale.
    Elle a su porter cette danse à un niveau de maitrise incroyable! Elle a un controle de son corps et une coordination inimaginable. Vous pouvez donc être sûre que je vous recommande chacun de ses produits.
    Cette technique vous portera loin dans la connaissance que vous avez de vous (à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur).

    Certaines vidéos (Jazz notemment) sont un petit défi en sois. Si vous ne connaissez pas sa technique faites un stage avec elle ou une de ses professeurs diplomées avant de vous décourager!
    Une particularité de cette technique est qu'une fois que vous savez comment ça fonctionne vous pouvez travailler facilement chez vous pour vous améliorer. Si vous avez compris le mouvement ne reste qu'à le répéter et forcer votre corps à l'appliquer.

    Dans chaque vidéo il y a un échauffement musculaire préparatoire aux exercices du thème de la vidéo, puis viennent les exercices parfois mits en chorégraphie de quelques pas, puis un retour au Puis une chorégraphie d'elle seule ou accompagnée de ses étudiantes. Pour finir elle dit quelques mots qui concerne le quotidien.

    Suhaila's format is an excellent way to prepare your body for belly dance. This is not a regular instructionnal dvd, this is a series of exercises to strengh your posture, stretch your body and prepare every muscles to belly dance. You have also combinations at the end to put togheter some steps. I have been bellydancing for 9 years and that set helped some area I couldn't improve so far. For the price, I think this is a great tool!

    ビギナー向けと言う事で購入しましたが,動きの説明が非常に簡素で良くわからないうちにどんどんエクササイズが進んでしまう。ベリーダンスの為の練習は本当に少なく,ストレッチを目的にしたDVDと言う感じ。ソロやグループでベリーダンスのパフォーマンスも中にありますが自分で真似するレベルじゃないしベリーダンスを学ぶと言うよりカラダを作るという感じを受けました。ベリーダンスを踊るにはかなりのコアマッスルを鍛える必要があるのでそう言った目的なら良いと思います。

    It was okay. I wish the DVDs were containing more sessions. It has some of Suhaila's classless infos.
    All in all though, I'm happy:)
