    This is a TRUE "Stop and Drain" or as I always called them "Stop and Waste". It functions like they should one turn of the key or handle and the valve shuts off and drains the water out of the low pressure side. Only one I hope minor issue is it is VERY VERY hard to turn. I am afraid that installed in a PVC 3/4" line it may be too much torque required to operate. I was hoping for a valve with less effort to operate. I hope it loosens up. Otherwise it is great.

    The reviews for this were all over so I decided to try it on for the water line feeding our campers so the lines would drain and not freeze in winter. The valve is extremely difficult to turn and after only two shutoffs the key at the top of the valve snapped off. I had worked the valve in a vise and also used some lubrication to help it turn but it did no good. The key is replaceable by just removing a screw but I have not been able to find a replacement so I have to dig back down and cut water lines and replace the whole valve. It did drain the lines after it was shut off however so that worked as it was intended.

    the tapped hole for the setscrew holding the key and collar in place is not very well threaded, and is off-angle. removing the setscrew took pliers, since the screw head stripped out while trying to remove with screwdriver. i re-tapped the hole and used a stainless screw to replace the brass one, all good now. valve was lubricated with heavy dark congealed grease that prevented the drain function, until i used a paperclip to clean out the drain hole.

    Bad design. Silver valve top is separate piece that does not fit tightly and is held by set screw. Valve turns hard and top piece will break loose. If you need underground valve, spend the extra money for a quality valve.
