- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2012We purchased two of these. Were were unhappy with the shipping delay coming directly from the factory instead of our usual Prime (it showed as Prime eligible when we bought them). However, once we received them, we were happy. Installation was easy. It took us a little time to install the first as we had never done a fan install but we had no problems. I do suggest you have a wire cutter/stripper handy but you can do with just a basic wire cutter. The units look great and we love the reversible blades. We use one color in our living room and the other color in our bedroom. The remotes work well but you may want to get some drywall anchors for the screws that attach the remote holder to the wall. My goal now is to find this same fan in a model that does not have remotes for the other rooms in the house. Definitely a good buy.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2024This fan moves air decently, but unlike the Westinghouse Comet we would have used if it had replaceable lights, it has a fairy audible 60Hz hum.
It also has no pull chain controls at all, requiring use of a remote to turn the lights off and on and the fan up and down. If you have dual switches/dimmers for the light and fan, you can bypass the remote (and I plan to as soon as I can rewire the fixture with an additional conductor), but if you only have a switch (or no switch) you need the remote, which doesn’t always receive very well since the receiver is installed inside the metal housing. The remote receiver also takes more than a second to turn the light on when you turn the switch on as well. I’m not super pleased with this aspect of it.
Overall, it’s pretty and it works okay (and the lamps are replaceable, which is why we got it, since a lot of fans including the newer versions of Westinghouse’s otherwise excellent Comet fan only have fixed LED modules which you can’t swap out). But the hum is kind of annoying and the requirement to use the remote if you don’t have an external dual switch/dimmer is VERY annoying. What happens when the remote inevitably gets lost?
- Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2015This fan is great! The fan looks good, is easy to assemble, and is easy to install. I am a total novice, so it took me a little longer than expected, but I got done in roughly an hour - complete with some newly discovered wiring problems my previous house owners left me. I have not had any problems with the remote, and everything works as planned. I definitely recommend the fan. I plan to buy 3 more in the next 30 days.
Note to the novices: The black wire is "always on," while the red wire is "switched-on." If you have both wires coming out of your ceiling you only need to hook one up (per the instructions). I chose the red one so that I could still use the light switch.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2012This fan was very easy to install. Not only is it a very pleasing looking fan, it is extremely quiet and the remote is amazing. It acts not only to control the fan speed (3 speeds), but also to turn on the light and is a dimmer for the light. It will dim the light to the point of using it as a night light. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2021Got it all installed and the fan won’t come on. Now trying to figure out if it’s the motor in the fan or the remote control. It’s going to suck if we have to take the whole thing down and ship it back
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2012The fan itself is very nice and rather attractive. The only drawback are 3-4 holes up near the mounting cover that don't get covered by a bezel, etc. Other than that, the installation was rather easy (instructions are long, but relatively easy to follow). Operation is wobble-free and they really move the air. Having the two-sided blades is great (and found on most fans today); but the light and dark wood styles chosen for this fan are very nice. I put one in a master bedroom and another in a loft; each using a different color and they both look awesome. Nice fan for the money and the remote is added convenience. No 5 stars only due to the installation time and lengthy instructions.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2012This is a great fan for the price (paid ~$100). It looks very nice and very easy to install even without instruction (fan is not too heavy)
Pros:
* Nice looking
* easy to install
* remote
Cons:
* remote is ugly and has confusing layout + remote holder comes with two tiny screws so unless you find something bigger you will not be able to install it in drywall (wood only)
* G16 lightbulbs. There are plenty of space for regular bulbs.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2013The item looks amazing, easy to install, remote control included, and good price.....BUT it does have a much louder than wanted hummmm noise from the motor - ttherwise it would get a 5 stars from me. I have multiple light fan and most I have installed myself, and this is the loudest of them all. Not recommended for a bedroom, luckily I installed it in a living room where it will not be used too much or the TV will be loud enough to overpower the fan noise.....at least it will be a good light.
