Siemens PL Series Single Phase Load Centers

The load center designed with the installer in mind

Siemens maintains two lines of load centers known as the ES and PL Series. The two product lines both feature single and 3-phase offerings, extended circuit models, and indoor or outdoor enclosures.

Designed for value, the ES Series load centers offer an Aluminum-bussed panel and cover all load center applications including 100 – 225 amps, 12 – 70 circuit, and single and 3-phase for indoor or outdoor application. All ES Series load centers come with a 10-year warranty.

The PL Series load centers make labor savings a priority. According to a recent study RS Means found that “the Siemens product requires less installation time, ranging from 5 percent … to 29 percent with an average time saving of approximately 15 percent.” The time-saving features, along with the standard Copper bussing and lifetime warranty, provide savings and reliability for both the installer and homeowner.

Siemens introduces PL Series Load Centers - a new high quality and feature-rich line of load center products to meet applications for virtually every need. The PL Series load center provides maximum flexibility in combination with labor saving features to aid the contractor while installing the product. PL load centers feature the patented insta-wire neutral/ground system, convertibility, copper bussing, and mounting tabs on the trim - these features were specifically engineered to decrease installation time and increase flexibility.

The 225 Amp Main Lug Load Center is single phase, 120/240 Volt, 42 space, 60 circuit and is provided with a combination Surface/flush mount cover, and Copper Bus Bars. There is no need to purchase ground bars as they come standard in the PL series of Load Centers. Main Lug Load Centers are convertible to Main breaker with the installation of an MBK150A, MBK200A, or MBK225A Main breaker kit.

    I ordered this panel after a lot of research. I am wiring a house and this panel was needed because it has the ability to have 60 circuits. My wiring layout for the house I am working on requires 43 circuits which is just over what you can get with 42 space panels. I would have rated this panel 5 stars, but I didn't because the manufacturer lied about this panel in its literature. For example, the brochure has footnote #6 listed right by this panels part number. Footnote #6 says, "ð§ All 225A load centers are provided with tin plated copper bus bars. Every single brochure says this panel has a tin plated copper bus, and even the cut sheets which are technical aspects on this panel say tin plated copper bus. This was one of the reasons I specifically wanted this panel. Siemens lied to me about this panel.

    I contacted Siemens about this and they looked into it. They said that just recently they stopped tin plating this panel, and the literature is wrong. I paid a premium for this panel, and I had to use it because the customer needed a panel, but I am seriously upset that Siemens is false advertising this panel as tin plated.

    I think Siemens has the best panel layout, but I would only buy this panel if I needed the 60 circuits. I will buy the cutler hammer CH panels from now on because they have a silver coated copper bus, and they donft lie about it. I would personally rather have a tin plated aluminum bus over an unplated copper bus. Also, if you need the extra circuits, give yourself enough time to order this panel from lowes or home depot for $117.

    One more thing, I got this panel and called Amazon about this problem. The first customer service rep was horrible. She basically said that I donft know what I am talking about, and that this panel was never suppose to have a tin plated bus. She was rude and very unpleasant. I hung up and tried again. The new customer rep was very nice. She looked at the manufacturers website to verify that this panel was suppose to have tin plating. She sent me a new panel in hopes that they just forgot to tin plate the panel I originally received. The second panel didnft have tin plating either, but that is Siemens fault for lying. It is wrong to lie about a product and that is why I giving this panel a 2 star rating.
