Product Description

The Nintendo 3DS XL, the super-sized version of the 3DS comes with an updated form factor and a battery that outperforms that of the original 3DS. The top screen will measure 4.88 inches while the bottom screen is 4.18 inches compared to the current 3DS' 3.53-inch and 3.02-inch screens. The battery lasts 3.5 to 6.5 hours compared to the 3 to 5 hours while running 3DS software. If the device is running DS games, it will run 6 to 10 hours. The Nintendo 3DS XL utilizes 3D Slider functionality and an improved top LCD display to present a glasses-free 3D effect on compatible games, while giving you the option to moderate the effect as you see fit. Taken together with additional features including full Analog control in 3D game environments, motion and gyro sensors that transfer the movements of the handheld into the game, 3D camera functionality, an adjustable stylus and full backwards compatibility and you have "the" must-have handheld system.

Contrary to previous reviews, the product I received was not damaged other than a couple of minor scuff marks that are barely noticeable and I was able to retreave Mario kart 7 through the Nintendo eShop under the redownloadable content tab. The only reason I wouldn't give a five star rating is because it was not equipped with an SD card and I had to remove the one I happened to have in a previous system. The SD card is crutial if you want to actually use your 3DS and I'm a bit disappointed it was left out and/or that the seller failed to prioritize that in the description.

    I bought this for my son as a gift and he enjoys as much now as he did the day he opened it. It is a quality product in that we have never had any issues or glitches with it and the graphics are top notch. I personally like the sound can be muted or headphones can be used if my son wants to hear it. I also like the fact that even though it is a 3D product, other "regular" DS games can still be used on it. I highly recommend the product!

    Large screen makes gameplay more enjoyable. 3D effects are quite pronounced (you will need to turn the effect down if you play more than a half hour or so because it can be disorienting). The case is rugged, the top now clicks firmly into several positions. This version comes loaded with Mario Kart, one of the all time great Nintendo games so you are never without a game to play. The overall value of the unit with a preloaded game is excellent.

    Very sad. The Mario game was not loaded on there. It is still locked by its previous owner and is under parental controls of course I don't know the pin. But really upset the Mario game is not on there! That's why I bought this. My sons birthday is Saturday and this was going to be his gift... now I don't know what I will do.

    I received the 3ds and had to trouble shoot because it hadn't been formatted correctly. Did not receive the preinstalled game or code to get the game. The 3ds xl works fine, it just isn't the product that was advertised.

    i heard many complaint about the 3ds XL but i love it, the screen size large an i do not notice a lose in picture quality that i heard complainants about. it is big an bulky an does have bit of weight too it, so over time it can hurt holding it but i play mostly with it in my lap so i don't notice it. the case shell is really a nice blue an has a nice smooth finish which is also nice. Mario kart 7 which it bundle with, tracks are fun an easy too enjoy in short burst if pressed for time an just want do quick run, as you win races you unlock new part for your karts which is fun. if your looking for a new system i recommend a 3ds xl, if you want big screen with a large library of games too choose from as it backwards compatible with the ds

    For starters, this should have been available from the beginning. I was one of those people who bought a 3DS way too soon and was furious when they released the 3DS XL shortly after the relase of the small one. Since I have owned both, I feel like I am at a distinct advantage to review the differences between the two systems. The 3DS XL is a completely different experience from the regular 3DS. The screens are beautiful and clear, the sound is better and the overall feel of the 3DS XL trumps the regular 3DS in every way. I can't think of a good reason not to get a 3DS XL over a 3DS other than a slight difference in price. If you're trying to decide between the two and the price is keeping you from getting the 3DS XL, I would wait until you have the money to get it. Thankfully I had the Zelda version of the regular 3DS so mine was able to keep its value when I sold it to get the 3DS XL. I highly reccomend the XL version. Don't throw your money away on a regular DS because it has a pretty design painted on it. You'll be happier with the better product.
