The ATX performs head-to-head with the most expensive prospecting detectors in the world. The ATX has maximum detection on all targets all the time. No need to switch modes or switch coils to improve detection on small gold while degrading detection of larger nuggets. It has advanced pulse induction technology, a durable mil-spec design, a new DD coil design, and unrivaled PI sensitivity on tiny gold. The Garrett ATX is the ultimate gold detector for all terrains and extreme conditions.
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

A really REALLY good rugged detector! Works well, uses standard AA batteries, and has just enough options and settings but not TO many like other gear. It costs a bit more, but it is worth it for a good brand name piece of gear!
It takes some time getting used to the various sertings and the weight of it, but after that you'll be amazed with what you pull out of places that have been hunted to death by vlf's. Can't wait to get out with it again, great job garrett.
Way too heavy, and the connection for the headset cable is very difficult to connect to the headset; in fact, I sent this detector back mainly because I had great difficulty connecting the headset to the detector, and the two tiny prongs that connect appear to me so small that they would eventually break. I had high hopes for this detector, but I was highly disappointed in it.
Deep and sensitive enough to pick up small gold! Would I get another? No. (But for the right price yes) Too heavy with poor ergonomics and I genuinely prefer Minelab. Even for the military I think Garrett could have designed the Recon Pro better. They must have decided that they only looked for mines a few minutes at a time so overbuilding (big, thick chunky) the machine and arm fatigue was acceptable. It doesn't discriminate as good as you want but that is typical for a PI machine. Awesome if they went duel frequencies. Or even put out an ATX lightweight for the beach or nugget hunting. They will not, it seems they are stuck in the late 80's early 90's. Flagship GTI 2500 looks like an old vintage machine. Max is a disaster, at least it wasn't in their favorite 70's green, I hope they do something new and fresh in 2020.
After Garrett flopped with the AT Max it left such a bad taste in my mouth that this may be my last Garrett machine. That's not true if my Garrett pro pointer goes, I will get another. They did that extremely well. I got lucky and dumped the Max on Fleebay fast before most the bad reviews got out.
Anyway, get the ATX, use it and work out your upper body strength with it, just be sure to switch arms so one doesn’t get huge wile the other atrophies. This way you can save money and give up that gym membership. I can swing it but if you want to be or are that old man (or lady) at the beach, get the Equinox.
Not happy with my machine for the money I wish I had gone to mine Lab this machine is noisy unless you turn the sensitivity down then you can’t find anything .disappointing after spending all that money I don’t know what the armies doing with it but i Wouldn’t Depend on this machine to save lives
Discrimination isn't good enough. End up digging up trash all day. BUT - if you go out in the wild looking for gold, then it works better. You cant really use it anywhere where there is any kind of trash. Those places are few and far between in 2018......
