The color accuracy and spray quality receive mixed feedback - while some customers find it works well for changing colors, others report off-color results, and though it sprays on like paint, some mention issues with the spray nozzle. Like this product so far, it is a dye if you use it as directed on the can. I had to buy three of these on and off to finish what I was doing. I ran into two problems. Will break it down by can so folks know what Im talking about. Can 1: I followed the directions on the back, took my items outside and cleaned them off with APC and made sure everything was nice and clean and dry. I shook the can for the required min and then applied my light coat followed by the heavy coat as directed. I waited about an hour and repeated for the restoration of one seat. The seat I fixed will be in the photos section of my review so you can see the transformation. I also used this first can on my passenger front seat to touch up areas I had sanded down due to failing leatherette. No problems came from this can, I just needed more coats to cover up the seam left over from the damage on the seat I fixed. Can 2: Covered the rest of the seat and allowed me to spruce up some much needed things on the rest of my seats, this is where the problems started. Im sure its my fault so thats what the 4 or 5 stars are for. I had peeling and the paint went matte rather then the usual satin shine. I was however, able to buff this out with another leather cleaning product, so dont waste an entire can on fixing those odd matte spots that pop out for no reason, just buff it out when the product is DRY. I got peeling because I buffed too early before the product set. Can 3: Same issue, I still have about 90% of this can remaining, I needed to touch up my mistake on Can 2. By same issue I mean the paint turned matte, but was bluffable. With every step I used APC before I began. So be careful and take in mind to order at least two cans if your doing touch ups and repairs to your car seats. This was purchased for a 02 Golf with a 03 Jetta Leatherette swap. Keep in mind that the transformation was done with sanding before VHT was applied. I didnt just throw VHT on this.

I'm a 23-year-old female college student who just bought her first car, so as you might guess, vehicles are not my forte, but I wanted to redo the interior of my '99 Toyota Camry as a sort of "summer art project." However, the colors I wanted for the paneling would not match nicely with the aging, stained tan carpeting and fabric on the seats, floors, and doors.

Do note that this stuff is not a paint, but dye in an aerosol can. It sprays on just like you would with spray paint, and following the directions it goes on pretty nicely, although it will "spit" and refuse to spray at an angle when you're getting low. After brushing the carpet back to spray both sides of the grain as indicated in the directions, it looks like new. On the car seats themselves, a couple light coats do the trick and it adheres nicely to the seat belts. Another review I found said they used only 2 cans for their project-- I bought 2 going into it, but needed 4-5 cans to do all the seats, carpeting, fabric door panels, ceiling, etc. the way I wanted. It's not the cheapest aerosol around, but it does look pretty darn good when you're done, so I guess the investment is worthwhile! No more evidence of stains!

My only gripe worth mentioning is that while it says it can adhere to your dashboard, when it is sprayed it doesn't look like it penetrates all the way, leaving a crackled finish. I recommend using an alternative spray paint in this case; I used a Valspar variety (with primer and enamel for before and after) at Lowe's and it looks wonderful.

I used this paint to help refresh some trim pieces in my Honda CRX. After cleaning and light sanding, applying a few coats of this paint makes the faded trim pieces look like new!

I bought this to cover up some water damage on my car's back seat, there weren't any colors that quite matched my car's beige seats, so i opted to get blue. I tested this day both on surfaces just cleaned with water and dish soap then dried and also with surfaces cleaned with water/soap, dried, very lightly sanded (seriously, very lightly, i basically just rubbed the sandpaper over the area twice) and then rubbed with acetone.

Pros: Really does work much better than spray paint for vinyl seats. No issues with any of the cans i bought not working. When prepared properly, the dye holds up remarkably, ive tried to scratch it with rough items and it is doable, but very difficult.

Cons: When people say to not try to use it on days where its cold or hot, they mean it, i've been forced to wait til winter is over to finish spraying my seats because the quality is noticeably worse when the temperature drops. A good amount of preparation is required, i tried it both ways, a quick rubbing of the surface you're planning to paint with sandpaper then acetone is unfortunately a must for best results.

Notes: The dye does not bond well to some plastic areas in my car, more heavy duty plastics required a lot more spraying and scratched a lot easier, i would recommend an acrylic paint for any problem areas. The blue on the cap is really the blue you'll get, it was not influenced at all by the surface i was painting, i expected it to act more like fabric dye and blend slightly producing a daker color, but whether i sprayed something beige or something black, it covered it up and ended up the same shade. Lastly, i didn't want to list this as a con, as its probably just me not having enough experience, but the cans don't have as much in them as i would expect, to do just my back seat area its taken me 3 cans so far.

Read the directions it's an excellent product when it comes to plastic and suede leather. You need to wait at least seven days for it to Cure. Yes it says you don't have to but on certain products you do!! don't expect to tape off what you just dyed , or if you have to bend it to install wait 7 days.
Even if you can't paint you can use this stuff, it runs very little unlike paint and dries to touch much quicker. I applied a bunch of little coats
Everything needs to be done within one hour after that you have to wait seven days to apply any more coats
    Preparation is key
I used degreaser, then hot soapy water, Wet sand with 2k paper, wash again in fresh suds. Air Dry

I discovered the side curtains to my 1953 MG TD at the bottom of a pile in my dad's old garage. In 40 years I had never seen them, didn't even know they existed. They were a mess! The tan canvas & vinyl cleaned up some, but were still pretty dingy. Since my car is black, and has a black top, I decided to try spray dye. It came out better than I could have hoped for. The vinyl looks like it has always been black, and looks brand new! The canvas (on the interior side) also took in the dye well. It feels a little rough, but not bad at all. I had taken off all the hardware and very carefully masked off the clear vinyl window. I used 2 cans for 4 side curtains, front and back. I got even coverage in just 2 coats. I will be using this product again for the spare tire cover.

Wasn't sure about this one but gave it a try. I used it on an OLD pink jet ski seat that I thought was a lost cause. I am shocked at how well the product covered and completely blocked out the pink. There were several dark stains and just nasty pink patches on the seat that would not come clean during the prep work and I was nervous. This stuff covers evenly and really does "dye" the fabric. I've been riding the ski in some of the worst conditions and weather but it is holding up extremely well. I will be using this product for all future jet ski builds. AWESOME FREAKING PRODUCT!
