Product Description
This model is a compact version of our tried-and-proven 6" Random Orbital. Any detailing enthusiast will appreciate its powerful 240-watt motor that runs on a variable speed control with a range of 3,500 to 10,000 orbits per minute and six speed settings. The random orbit or dual action of the machine refers to how the pad spins as the backing plate simultaneously rotates in an elliptical orbit. These two actions save you tons of elbow grease and are the cornerstone of the tool's ability to safely perfect your paint... and also the main reason Richard is quick to point out that our machine buffers require no previous experience to operate. It's easy. You use lower speeds to introduce the product to the paint and higher speeds to work it into the surface and achieve the desired correcting (polishing) or perfecting (waxing) effect, all without any hint of intimidation. A steel bevel gear drive delivers a smooth-running power band and a long service life. A great solution for working in tight quarters our 3" Random Orbital is perfect for polishing paint, metal, plastic, and glass as well as applying waxes or sealants. Its 3" hook-and-loop backing plate will accept any of our 3" or 4" pads or you can convert to a 2" backing plate and use our line of 2" pads. The unit's comfortable ergonomic design features a handgrip and finger indents for comfort and control.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2015Great machine for small areas. I used this to do my rear bumper on a Audi S6 and the middle pillars between the front and rear doors. I have metallic black pearl paint, this was able to take out the scratches out of the clear coat using the high speed setting. I was skeptical about buying this model due to some of the negative reviews saying it was underpowered. On a setting of 4, this did not bog down without extreme pressure (which is not what you want to do). On the high setting of 6, this machine had plenty of power and never bogged down, also kept rotating. Maybe I received a newer generation in this size, with more power. BTW - I have an original gen 1 Griots 6" DA and it doesn't compare to the newer Gen 2/3 models. I used the Griot's orange and red pads. I'm very happy with the purchase and glad I didn't spend 2-3x more for the German or Italian models in this size. Get the longer cord, you can go all around the vehicle, less hassle.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2014First this is not like a full size DA in power. Setting 1 is essentially vibrate as the pad with not spin unless making near 0 contact. Setting 2-3 are basically the same. Setting 4 you get some spinning but not really a useful amount for much other than light object finishing. 5&6 the tool becomes useful. To give you an idea I was applying wax with a microfiber pad at like 5 effectively. Even at setting 6 this tool is like level 2 on a normal DA. But this tool has some advantages in size and intensity. It fits everywhere which is great and it buffs chrome and grills very well without destroying the pad. I like how they advertise all of it's other uses as it would be very good for household things as well. This tool can definitely outdo the hand approach at higher settings but don't expect anything like a full size DA's power. I personally love it for what I use it for but am glad I own a full size DA also.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2018I already owned a Griot's Garage 6" DA polisher, but in my application I run into many small partially obstructed areas. I used a 3" pad on the 6" polisher, but it has a counter weight for the larger pad, which creates higher levels of vibration and doesn't help controlling the thing.
I finally decided to pick up this 3" polisher. I'm very happy with it. It's lighter, has much less vibration and is very easy to control. I also like the long 25' cord. It gives more freedom of motion and you may not need an extension cord at all. It's a nice product. I highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2016Useless. Just the weight of unit stops the spinning action. It just vibrates. Unit is WAY to big in your hands for the size of the pad. I didn't read other reviews until AFTER I bought the thing. LOL, a cheap hunk of junk. Returning it today.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2015This is a nice little polisher but bogs down easily when running over the curves of a car.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2019Very easy to use and light weight too. Get's into the tight spaces on my bike.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2013I expected better than I received. From the time I got it out of the box, this tool's motor makes some noise! If you spend a Saturday detailing, you'll actually think about using earplugs. Continuous "grinding and bearing rattling" makes me wonder when I use it "when's this thing going to damage my paint". There must be better choices, and my recommendation is to set aside the "Griot's" brand name and shop other products before buying this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2019The unit works great. Definitely a must if you detail cars and want to save time. I would purchase this product again.

4.0 out of 5 stars arrived on time in good shape, not bad at all
Now that I had a chance to use it, it's all good, just a nice size and weight, nice long cord.
thanks will shop again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Upgrade the backing plate. This one is garbage
As the headline reads - mind came apart within 2 hours of use. I only used this for tight spaces and motorcycles. Never used for more this 30 minutes straight. Little more power needed for professional use. Nice little machine for weekend warriors even though it still will require a heavier backing plate!!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST 3inch Polsiher for the price!
I love this tool. I use it every time I polish a car or a motorcycle. The long cord is a great thing because sometimes when I travel to places and forget my extension cord the long cord of the machine gets around the whole car usually. For the price its worth it.

Very easy to use, not complain at all. First time I get this brand and it looks like a very good quality and feels like it will last for ever.

Great unit, it has a small throw but great for tight areas.
