EPEAT addresses the sustainability impacts of electronic products. An EPEAT registered product must meet required criteria and can meet optional criteria. The criteria depend on the type of product and can include energy efficiency, reduction of fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-Gases), and end of life management. Products meeting 50% - 75% optional criteria are “Silver” and those meeting more than 75% are “Gold”.
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I absolutely HATE trying to figure out a new electronic product. I had multiple HP 63 cartridges on hand, so when I thought that my current printer was experiencing a problem, I searched for another HP Desk Jet 3632. Turns out the problem was on my end, but for the price I'm ahead in the long run. This printer is easy to use and I'm glad I got a replacement now while it was still available.
I've owned this printer for less than a year. The black ink cartridge went bad shortly after the purchase. It didn't run out of ink, it would just only print every 3rd line of whatever I tried to print (namely, the settings page for the printer itself). I tried troubleshooting the bad ink cartridge but couldn't because of the mess that follows. I ultimately replaced the ink cartridge (which fixed the printing problem), but I never could fix the wireless connectivity or the EWS problems.
I can connect to the printer via WiFi Direct (192.168.223.1), however, when I attempt to navigate the EWS (Embedded Web Server) to connect the printer to my wireless network, I am asked for a username and password. The defaults are supposed to be user admin with a blank password but that does not work. I have tried many variations with no luck (e.g. Admin - blank, admin - admin, admin - password, etc.) I have reset the printer to factory defaults as well without luck. As a result, I cannot use this method to connect the printer to my wireless network or run diagnostics on the printer.
I connected the printer to my Windows desktop via USB and installed all of HP's bloatware. I can print from this computer just fine as a result (with the new ink cartridge that isn't faulty... yet). When I try to connect it to my wireless network via the software utility, it finds my SSID, but fails to join the wireless network when I enter my password. I have tried many things to correct this including changing the password on my wireless router and changing encryption types (AES and TKIP). I am not willing to remove the security on my wireless network.
I tried going to HP's site to get tech support (there is no help in the forums). There is a form that must be completed to find out if the printer is covered under warranty. It asks for a serial number and a product code. They're supposed to be close to one another on the printer. I located the serial number, but there is no product code on the printer anywhere.
So, it seems that my printer is really just a wired USB printer usable via HP's crappy software only. Wireless printing does not seem to work and HP's support system is garbage. It is too bad, HP used to make great hardware (especially printers in my opinion). However, that seems to be left in the past. I will not buy another HP product.
Im trying to add my new 3632 printer to my pc but CANNOT FIND THE WPS# to do so. Where in the heck did they put it? It is nowhere on the printer or in the multiple brochures they sent!!!!!!!
Absolutely a nightmare printer experience. Design and engineering are beyond terrible! Every single time I went to print something with this thing ? It sceeed up. Every time for a year plus. All the buttons are screwy. All the icons and labels on controls are cryptic and you have no idea what they do? Nightmare. The lack of ease of use is so frustrating. Example - you press copy button - nothing happens. Cause unit is asleep, SO , you have to figure that out , and hit copy twice! It took me 6 hours to hook up printer to WiFi . It took me 60 seconds other times? I have no idea why. Manual, instructions, support , paperwork, toms and tons and tons of it ! And none of it helps! From a product design /engineering and ergonomics point of view , it’s almost as it was intentionally designed to fail and frustrate. I will never ever buy a HP product again. Ever . All due to a cheap crappy HP printer, that caused me so many problems and hassles its incredible! Incredible! I just tossed the printer in garbage. BTW - printer RIPS THRU INK. 10 copies a 29.00$ cartridge, almost! Color copies forget about it! Quality of color was unusable. Hated this product !
NICE TRY BY HIDING MY HONEST REVIEW! Hewlitt Packard foolishly tries to dictate what kind of ink you use in this printer, trying to illegally force an "ink monopoly" on you by giving you multiple warning messages when you install any other brand of ink cartridge refills other than Hewlitt Packard. Totally arrogant, illegal, and stupid. When you try to install another brand of ink into this piece of plastic feces, expect a GAUNTLET of error messages trying to scare you into buying their SUPER OVERPRICED ink, because THAT'S where these shakedown artists make their money. One of their error messages calls your replacement ink cartridges "counterfeit", as if HP can legally dictate what brand of ink you are "allowed" to use in their printer. Arrogant, incompetent, and totally WRONG. Look it up.
