Windshield Channel
To attach a Bikini to your vehicle, you need a Windshield Channel. Carefully check the condition of existing channel to make sure it’s tightly attached and free of rust or corrosion. If you have a hardtop on your vehicle, a windshield channel must be installed for the Bikini to fit. Some windshield channels require drilling to install.
Product Description
Windshield Channels are required for the installation of Bikini tops. Windshield Channel and Bikini combinations are not interchangeable, so be sure to check the Bikini top application before purchasing a Windshield Channel. Bestop soft tops come with windshield channels. Bikini tops do not, the header must be purchased separately. Replacement channels for soft tops are also available.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2018I wish I had done this fix much sooner. I have a Smitty Built top on my 2007 2-door JK. The first picture (drivers side corner) you can see how the front of the top where it meets the windshield frame is lifting in the corner, the passenger side was also lifting but not as bad. There was so much wind noise while driving you couldn't hardly hear the passenger let alone the people in the back seat and forget about the radio. Once the old original plastic Jeep header was removed (second photo of the drivers side corner) you can see why it wouldn't stay flat once latched, it was cracked. Once the new Bestop header was installed it now lays flat along the windshield, third photo. No more wind noise! The Bestop header uses a medal upper with a plastic inner unlike the original which both pieces are plastic. The Bestop prevents the header from cracking and twisting (warping) causing poor fitment. Installation wasn't too bad just take your time, about an hour with help. A few things to note are 1) Instructions are a little lacking. Watch some videos. 2) Most of the screws provided have a head on them that should be a little bit bigger so not to fall through the hole in the medal header. 3) The kit comes with some felt pads. No where does it tell you where to put them? Great product choice!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2019Worked good! Saved me $700. I thought my top was done, never used again. I had to drill some holes to match my old one but everything else worked great. No wind noise. :: quick tip- start the screws before you pull the top around and get a plastic tool to push the top under the rail.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2024After 11 deafening years of wind coming in over the factory header, this finally solved the issue. I can actually talk to people sitting next to me in the Jeep. Wish I had done this years ago. A mild pain to install (especially around the corners), but well worth it to finally hear myself think.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2016When I bought my 08 wrangler in 2015 I thought it was much noisier than I remembered my 05 to be which was my last wrangler before this one. I could not understand what was going on. Tried adding weatherstrip here and there but nothing helped. I finally found a post in a forum discussing how noisy it would be with a warped header. So I decided to try it as a last resort and alas it worked!! It was tricky for me to install as I was without assistance and am small. Had to watch a couple You Tube videos before I was able to complete it. But it was all worth it! Silly me should have bought my replace a top before I installed this in the first place so had to do it twice. This completely eliminated the nearly unbearable wind noise I was getting. Now my Jeep sounds as noisy as it should for a soft top. If you are getting unusual wind noise coming from what seems to be from your door frame where it meets the corner of the header, or from the header itself this should fix it. Another clue was that my soft top clamps were so loose that the previous owner was using little wads of cardboard around the hooks to make it tighter. Now with the new header and top, it is as tight as it should be.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2015Watch the YouTube video, the directions are poor.
The design is poor for a jeep and will fall apart every 2 years. And you'll know when it broke because it will sound like s wind tunnel in your jeep. Mine was quieter with the top open than closed. Making a jeep top with plastic nuts is a horrible idea and I won't buy another Bestop after my experience.
Too add insult to injury, their tech department told me they didn't know what my problem was and didn't offer any suggestions. I figured this out from numerous posts on JK forum with the same issue.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2016I purchased my 2007 Jeep used, so I don't think I ever realized that the cabin noise was rather loud, even for a lifted JK. Over a period of several months, it became so loud that conversation was literally impossible at highway speeds. In addition, I noticed that air had begun to seep through somewhere between the canvas soft top and the roof support structure itself above the sun visor. Long story short, the header bar had cracked, allowing for wind to enter the cabin. This item is a replacement for the roof header, and it works perfectly. Installation was simple, particularly with the help of YouTube. If you're having problems with your soft top, this may be the answer.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2018Item is broken in one side and cracked in the other. Description was misleading. Probably shipping back will be worthless😕😤
