- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2024Size: 10.5Color: Dark BrownVerified PurchaseMy husband bought a pair many years ago 10+ years ago and just recently was ready for a replacement and let me tell you …these last. If you are not purchasing as replacement and unsure of your size hiking boots it can be difficult to buy without trying them on and doing a downhill toe test. Easy return if needed. Many many hikes later they are still like new with great support.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2024Size: 13 WideColor: Dark BrownVerified PurchaseSo far the boots are holding up. Danner boots hold up pretty good. My son has a very heavy footfall and tends to wear out most shoes and boots. The Danner boots last quite a while it’s his second pair he’s had. The longevity of this fine product is worth the price.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2015I've worn several types/brands of boots from the cheapo hiking boots to expensive Merrimels and these are by far the best I've worn. I've owned 3 pairs of these they are that comfortable. I'm on my feet in the elements all day, every day doing landscaping/mowing even snow removal. My feet stay dry as a bone in even the worst rain. Hardly any break in period, maybe a couple hours (for me), sizes are right in line and did I say comfortable! I only have 3 grips...first the soles are made of a very soft rubber and the best I've got out of a pair is about 9-10 months before the tread is completely worn. Second, the laces are very long and seem to come untied usually at the worst possible time. Lastly is the price! These are good boots but just wishing I'd get more than a year out of them for 150-200 buck price range.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2017I tear through my boots as I am always on new home construction sites. These boots lasted me for about 2 years before the soles wore out from climbing up and down tall fiberglass ladders and walking all over asphalt shingled roofs. All the stitching stayed in tack until I had to sit on roofs and fix siding, and as soon as I did that some of the stitching came loose on the outside front of the boot. However if you do that to any boot with stitching, eventually an asphalt shingled roof is going to tear through it.
They are very comfortable boots, I wore a 11.5 EE and the width was perfect for me. After about a year I put in an insole for extra cushioning.
They are a little pricy but if you are on your feet 10 hours a day, 5 days a week - it is worth it. I am investing in my feet and body and not so much the boots.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2014The only thing I wish is that they were resole-able, which these are not according to Danner.
I love the sole because they're high traction in most conditions. They're a little slippery on some wet concretes, but otherwise, they're pretty darn good. VIBRAM soles outperform these for traction, but these last longer - there's always a trade, ya know?
My last pair lasted several years of being worn nearly 7 days a week before the soles wore out. They remained waterproof until the normal end of life. Then all the way to the bitter end because I wasn't ready to give them up even with no traction lugs left on the soles. While they started to leak a little after one sole cracked all the way through the upper, that boot was *completely* worn out; I wore the sole through the shank.
I wear mine for just about everything - I ride my motorcycle to work in them every day, hiking, shopping sprees. You name it. Ok, maybe not weddings.
The uppers were great throughout the life of the boot, even the shoelaces were original.
Note for new purchasers, the back of the boot is initially stiff and can be uncomfortable against the back of your ankle. This is especially true when driving my sports car and my toe is extended for long periods. Like all good boots, they need some breakin time. After that, they're just great and I've worn them on multiple 18+hour days with zero complaints.
So... now you know why I bought them again!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2025Size: 11Color: Dark BrownVerified PurchaseThese are my second pair bought the first pair to hike the Grand canyon never had problems with it was hiking for two weeks in the grand canyon and Zion angle landing
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2015Bought these expecting a great boot, and that is what I got. I work for the county I live in, which involves a lot of walking, operating equipment, and standing on asphalt during the hot day, and these were very comfortable. However the soles started breaking down after a little over a year and a half. I glued them back together a few times, but they got to the point that they just completely fell apart. Even with the tread wore down and the soles broken the tops are still holding together, and look pretty good. The stiching is mostly intact, with the exception of a corner that is barely lifting, but it's right at the point the soles are broken the worst. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone, especially someone not spending time on concrete and asphalt.
I contacted Danner, and I got very quick, courteous replies. Apparently their "Hiking" boots have a little softer sole for traction, and they sent me a discount for a new pair of boots.
