    How can you go wrong? Hank Jones probably never played a single note which didn't perfectly fit the tune and feeling he was striving for. Jimmy Cobb is one of the most tasteful and under-rated of drummers and Mr. McBride is flawless on this album. The moods and tempos vary somewhat, but not to extremes. I bought this a second time to give to a fellow worker who is becoming more acquainted with jazz and he loves it.

    What a nice selection of music to satisfy any jazz enthusiast. Hank and company are so in sync and bring out the nuances of these familiar pieces with such elegance and refinement. Truly a pleasure to listen to such playing. The years of dedication to their craft brings something to this there just isn't any substitute for. These musicians truly are symbiotic in their playing, with never a trace of showboating. And the sound is truly an open window right into the studio. It's like you're there, even in standard redbook format. Thanks to Chesky for such sonic perfection.

    Exquisite beauty that is heavenly. Christian Macbride has been blessed for being able to play with Hank Jones and Jimmy Cobb. He lives up to it.

    The recording is superb. It captures the nuances of Hank Jones and reveals the sublime mastery of Jimmy Cobb.

    musica che scorre senza asperita,'sia di registrazione (ottima ), che di esecuzione,suonata da 3 musicisti che suonano con disinvoltura senza mai essere troppo invadenti e per questo si lascia ascoltare senza fatica.Per le mie conoscenze tecnico musicali che sono alquanto ridotte mi viene difficile fare una disamina di tutti i brani,posso dire che non è un suono fine a se' stesso,ma pieno d'inventiva.Per quanto riguarda Hank Jones,che in questa registrazione ha quasi 90 anni e Cobb quasi 80,sono come certi vini,piu' invecchiano piu' sono buoni.

    SACD, donc le top avec le matériel adéquat. Hank Jones, après Bud Powell dans une approche différente, c'est l'archétype du pianiste bop: phrasé, frappe séche de la touche, rythme. Ce n'est pas le meilleur Hank Jones trio mais c'est bon. Le meilleur est pour moi le Great Jazz trio "live at the VV".
