Not happy! The product looks cheaply and hastily done

Not happy! The product looks cheaply and hastily done
Not happy! The product looks cheaply and hastily done! The lengths of the two cords coming out of the casing are UNEVEN and thus when retracted (since they rotate around the same axis until a cord's end is reached,) one side leaves 10 inches of cord OUTSIDE the casing! Why would I buy retractable cards if they don't retract?

WE bought this retractable AC Power Extension Cord to be used in the Kitchen connecting electronic appliances that we wanted to use from our Kitchen island and then connect it to an electric outlet on the wall over our counter. It works very well and we are pleased with it. It retracts easily and is easy to store until needed. By using it, we do not have to move the cart over to the counter any more. We would recommend this to others.

    1. this thing does not retract evenly, as someone else pointed out (which i foolishly ignored). 2. it does not stay deployed, meaning it just wants to wind itself back up as soon as you let go. For twenty bucks, that's some seriously crappy quality control. Too bad. Great idea and terrible execution. Save your valuable time.

This lasted three days until it would no longer stay extended. If I was able to get it to latch, it would retract if it was moved.

Hotel rooms often have power outlets in inconvenient places, particularly if you prefer to work from the bed. An extension cord can make life easier. I was looking for a retractable extension cord that is light and that I could throw in my carry on suitcase or briefcase. Amazingly, there aren't many choices in retractable extension cords on Amazon or eBay. I discovered this unit which seemed expensive, but was the only choice available. It is very solid and the retraction mechanism is excellent. It unwinds and rewinds very easily, unlike cheap cable retractor systems. The retractor is a pleasure to use. There is a 3 prong receptacle, if you need it. (None of my portable chargers has a grounded cable.) However, the unit is bulky. This is an industrial strength, heavy duty cable with high quality connectors. But it only has a single receptacle. Still, it has been useful on several occasions. Recently, I decided to purchase a 6-foot extension cord from Home Depot for $1.48 that has 4 receptacles. This will allow me to plug in my cell phone charger and MP3 player charger along with the laptop. And, it is less bulky but of course does not have a retraction mechanism. A rubber band will have to do.

I wanted a retractable extension cord for travel, and I could only find two styles. This one is the smaller of the two and works fine. Once in a while the trip mechanism does not want to lock on fully open, and I have to fight with it to keep it extended. I have had that problem with a lot of the Ziplinq products, and have never found a good solution. Other than that, it is just what I wanted.

I travel on business and make a number of Powepoint presentations and find myself inlocations that I'm just a couple of feet short of the wall plug. Insted of scampering around to find an extention cord I pull this out and the problem is solved. Works great. Well made.

This is the second one of these I bought. With my first one, after a while the spring loaded retract ability of this cord (why I bought it) quit working. I thought, "Well, thinks break over time" So I bought a new one. Within 1 week, the retract ability is broken.
