- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2014I have not yet finished reading this book but am about half way through and thoroughly enjoying it. I bought it because I paint skyscapes and cloudscapes and I thought I should have a refresher on how clouds form. A good part of the information was covered in high school geography classes, but that has been awhile ago - and there have been scientific advances in the last [ahem, couple decades] on weather understanding.
The science of the weather is explained in a way just about anyone can understand. It not only covers weather but also how geology, cosmology and history - on both a geological and human timescale - have played into the creation of weather.
You will learn a lot*** about the planet and the sky we effectively live in from this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2012I recommend this book for anyone who needs a primer on weather. I am a new boater and wanted a book that would get me grounded on weather and the applicable terms. This book satisfied my requirements.
