I had a leak on the low pressure side of my power steering line. That section of line also happens to be what serves the purpose of cooling the power steering fluid. I looked at replacing that entire line. It could be done but not easily. So....I opted for the easy way out. I cut the rusted, leaky section of line off and connected this cooler. Will likely do as good or a better job of cooling the power steering fluid. Pretty easy and straight forward to do. You'll just need a good spot to mount it. I also used two small pieces of hose to create an isolation mount for the cooler and keep it from contacting the surface I mounted it to. Should work great.

The cooler is made of light weight aluminum and comes with only 2 plastic tie downs. I removed the existing cooler by cutting the coolers feed and return line about 2 to 3 inches from the cooler with a hacksaw leaving 2 metal stubs on the existing factory installed lines. The existing tubing was in good shape so I decided not to replace them. After removing the original cooler, I took the existing tubing and cut back the metal tubing on both hoses with a small pipe cutter leaving a metal stub on each line about 1 inch in length. Both stubs had a little rust so I cleaned them with fine grit sand paper. I then installed the new cooler to the existing "A" frame diagonally after cutting the new supplied hoses in half and attaching them to the new cooler. I then placed one of the supplied ties through the new unit and into the A/C radiator at the top and a wire tie at the bottom of the cooler to the "A" frame. It is important to remember to use some power steering fluid to lubricate the inside of the hoses and metal fitting to ease installation. I then lubricated one to the stubs on the existing hose, slid on a hose clamp and inserted the original hose into the new hose leading to the cooler tightening the clamps as recommended in the coolers instructions. I then connected the second hose. On the factory installed cooler that I replaced, the bottom hose was the high pressure hose and went to the far right cooler connection. I installed the new hose in same location. I filled the power steering pump as required with new fluid and checked for leaks. I checked the factory cooler and determined the original leak was in the metal tubing leading into the cooler. I salvaged the cooler just in case this new cooler fails as it is not as rugged as the original. The instructions and suggestion provided work well for me but each installation may pose its own unique problems and installation should be adjusted or adapted to meet those particular needs. I hope you find this somewhat helpful with your installation. Good luck!

This is a good priced cooler that I have added successfully to replace the rusted and leaking steel cooler on 2002-2005 Silverado 2500HD and 3500 pickups. The provided rubber hose is a little short, another few inches would be ideal, but otherwise no complaints and it plumbs in quickly and doesn't leak. Likely has better cooling capacity than the OEM steel one as well judging from the fins and hose diameter.

Bought as a replacement for my original Volvo XC90 power steering oil cooler, which leaked after car turned 3.
This coolers fit well and provides better cooling than original due to its larger fins.
A small con is that it would be hard to reinstall if needed.
Probably would buy similar cooler for automatic transmission oil cooling.

Worked well for my Power steering on my jeep when I'm wheeling lot of stress put on the power steering pump as i'm moving slow and turning the wheel a lot. I used the install kit to attach it to my transmission cooler it had enough room I would not run those things though a modern AC condenser could cause a leak. Would mount it using rubber insulated clamps from home depot electrical dept.

I was unsure if this part would be a good replacement for the original on my vehicle that was leaking because another review said they had trouble but mine hooked right up no problem in about 10 minutes and was a much cheaper fix for my truck than spending 4 times as much on an oem part
