Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I purchased these to match to a group of Vivitar 283 and 285s that I have for photography. I had to jury rig them (bye warranty :)) but that was because of my choice of non-wireless flashes. Once I had them connected tot he Vivtars, they worked every time I ran the flash, live and during tests. I didn't go any more than 4m (12 feet) away but I'm sure I could add on another 6 feet and still be safe to fire them. I used NiMH batteries to run them and when using them 1x every 20 seconds, it took about 3 hours for the units to be too low in charge to help.
Note, these are cheap but work well for me. I'm no professional, I just take pictures of family and trips, but for portrait work, I'd buy them again.
This item came through the post today and was delivered in good condition. Tested all the units and were all working great. Good price for this bundle for people who would like to fire off multiple strobe lights at the same instant. You get what you paid for and hence don't expect the same settings to be found on the Elinchrom Skyport.
It would be best if there's an AC bypass for the receiver thus saving the trouble for maintaining the 2xAAA batteries for each receiver unit. I certainly hope there wouldn't come a day when the battery in any of them die on me when I needed them most. Also, keeping my fingers crossed for the on/off switch on the receiver units to be able to withstand the repeatition on/off cycle.
Overall, great product and it's definitely a "can buy". Hope this helps.

Bought this about a year ago, worked great right out of the box - delivering the key functionality of triggering several off camera lights without any configuration needed. I've used them a couple of times, then they sat for a year and now won't work at all. Time for a new set. I might even buy this same one. They're cheap enough to go through several of them. Might need to buy two or three sets at once, though, in case one quits on me mid-shoot.
These were absolutely fantastic to work with, and even though after about two years of heavy use one of the four triggers died, I was only using them with 2 lights, so I still had backup. It was easy to set them to the same frequency, and if you remember to turn them off after use, battery use is quite low for the triggers.
These definitely did not function well with rechargeable batteries, but neither do any of its competitors, so it's not really something I expected from this unit. I used cheap sets of AAAs for them, and they worked like a charm. Bought a whole pack for $10 that would last me through the year.
The only difficulty with these was changing the batteries on the main unit, which required a prying device (like a letter opener) and preferably two sets of hands, as well as batteries that I had to go to a special battery store to purchase. If you're buying this set now, you should know that battery is the 12 V MN 21/23 - and if you're going to use this set long term, you'll probably need one every 3-6 months for medium use, maybe more. I'd recommend keeping one in your kit (along with that letter opener...)
Those are the only bad things I can say about it otherwise, for the price it worked better than a lot of the pretentious, expensive alternatives. I had less trouble with these from across the room than some of my pro photographer friends had with their expensive Pocket Wizards. I'd estimate the actual range, with empty space, at about 30 feet. I mostly worked around 5-15 feet away, no issues whatsoever.
As a full time pro, I sold these along with my Alien Bees lighting kit while upgrading, but I'm intending to get another set now that I'm doing more work with on-site lighting again.
Best low-cost alternative to expensive, difficult to operate triggers, even for a full time pro
