Customers say

Customers find the suitcase well-made with fantastic durability and excellent for business travel, with tons of room that easily accommodates 4-5 days of clothes. The bag rolls smoothly on all surfaces, looks well-designed, and is easy to maneuver through airports. While some customers say it's worth the money and fits fine in domestic overhead bins, others find it too big for airlines to handle.

This is my first Briggs and Riley product. I bought this and the Tumi Voyaguer Super Leger to compare. At two pounds heavier, the sturdiness of this bag gives it the sense of being higher quality though my guess is the Tumi bag uses more advanced materials and would hold up similarly in all but the most extreme cases, i.e. baggage handlers. And unfortunately, if you travel enough, eventually, you will have to check the bag. In my comparison, I packed 5 days worth of clothes including 2 jeans, 2 slacks, 7 shirts, 2 cardigans, 2 sets of workout clothes, heels, short boots, flats, a swimsuit and coverup and my Tumi puffer jacket and I had room to spare. With the handles on the outside, packing was much easier and I was able to make the most out of the interior space. For fun, I put in and additional 10 sweaters and used the expansion feature. It worked like a charm though if you are a small woman, I recommend putting the bag on the ground before compressing it to get more leverage. I was particularly impressed by the ridgidness of the bag while expanded. After years of expanding spinners where the expansion is a cloth zipper that allows the two halves to wobble, this was a nice surprise and added to the sense of quality. I tried out the suiter with two blazers and a shift dress that is tough to pack. The dress was probably more wrinkled in the suiter but the wrinkles were not as deep as they are when I have to fold that dress. The suiter was easier to use than I would have guessed and after some practice, I think I can reduce the wrinkling. The clothes in this section did not take up significantly more space than they would have folded traditionally. My only two gripes about the bag are the wheels and the weight. Weight is just a factor of the sturdiness so I won’t elaborate. The wheels roll very well but they are two different sizes. The wheels along the back are larger than the ones in front which causes the bag to tip forward more easily, especially when loaded. This was B&D’s only mistake since this will cause the bag to tip away from the handles and be unwieldy in several situations. It isn’t worth a star but at these prices, perfection is expected. Overall, I’m probably going to keep this bag over the lighter, more elegant Tumi because of the baseline capacity, the ability to expand, the structure and the suiter.

I purchased the Olive color due to the fact there's a sea of black luggage out there. I paired this International spinner with the two-wheel rolling cabin bag and they were a perfect fit. However, what I noticed was the fact when you place something heavy on top of the International spinner, it tends to want to fall over. To help prevent that from happening, I always positioned the wheels so they pointed towards the front and I didn't have any issues. The wheels glided very good on bare floors and some carpet. This spinner rolls better when you push it where the front is facing front, instead of the sides facing front. I was surprised that the expansion mechanism actually works wonders. Its nice to not have to worry if you'll be able to close your luggage, because it will easily compress down by using the expansion gears. I ordered some extra wheels and a handle from the online store for free with paid shipping, to have on hand for just in case since I travel where there's no B&R stores or dealers. I don't plan to every replace this piece. Very nice luggage and very rugged.

I purchased this based on the review on The Wirecutter. I travel freqently (80k+ miles per year) and needed something that can fit overhead but store a week's worth of clothes. This is hands down the best rollaboard I've ever owned. The unique compression system sets it apart from every other bag out there. It can compress down small for a short trip, or expand to hold a week of clothes while still fitting in the overhead. The wheels are solid and quiet. I liked the addition of the TSA lock. Front pouches are a little small to be of much use, but I never use outside pockets. Also key is the suit compartment. It unfolds fully and has a hook for a hanger, and prevents wrinkles. It's also a great spot to put dress shirts. I purchased the 2 wheel version, and while I miss the convenience of 4 wheels, the 2 wheel model is built much more solidly than any 2 wheel bag.

Great upgrade from previous Baseline design. Improved wheels, roll very smooth especially on carpet. Old BR wheels were ok but these are awesome. Better more stable handle.
The compression mechanism works great and expanded the bag doesn't get front heavy to tip over. Very easy to recompress and no zipper to get torn off. The suiter works great for 3-4 dress shirts and a pair of slacks. Easy in and out at the hotel.
This is a perfect size for 50 lbs checked in luggage. There is really no need for the large or extra large ones as they would always exceed luggage allowance.
Love the Olive color, a bit more stylish and easy to spot. Have the new domestic carry on spinner too.
Great luggage. Got it from Amazon Warehouse for over $100 less in never used condition. Worth the wait to snag a deal.

I travel 100k+ mostly Europe and Asia routings and Briggs & Riley makes the best suitcase for me.

I already have a Briggs & Riley carry-on, which I use regularly and am entirely satisfied with. So I turned to Briggs & Riley when in the market for a medium suitcase. I have used it twice already and like it for all the reasons I like the carry-on. Plus the medium has four wheels, which I like a lot. These suitcases cost more but you definitely get what you pay for, which means quality, solid construction, and sturdy material. Get one, you can't go wrong.

Quite possibly, the finest piece of luggage I have ever owned. The quality is impeccable, the features are well thought out (especially the method for expanding the case), the wheels are the smoothest I have had on a case, and because the handles are outside, the space inside is exceptional.
