If you're a picky person, this product may not be for you. This product isn't by any means high end but it serves its purpose very well. The product is reasonably priced. The product is well packed. One of the boxes arrived damaged but no damage to the product. The product is easy to assemble if the instructions are followed. It took me about 20 minutes to read the instructions and assemble one unit. The trick in assembling this product is to get all the dowels in all the way and make sure the upper and lower cams are tight before the back is installed. The back of this product may appear flimsy but does an excellent job of keeping the product from racking. The product looks good, each cube is 13.5" high x 13.5" wide x 13.5" deep. There product provides plenty of storage space. Since the product is made of laminated particle board, this product is for interior use only. If you want to make this product super sturdy, add a bit of carpenter's glue to each dowel when assembling.
I would recommend this product to a friend.

The black wall it is a nice color choice vs plain black imo One downside is mine has a piece that was slightly damaged I shipping. It was on the back side though and not visible when filled so I will deal with it vs return. Make sure to check yours for damage!

Admittedly, the shelf falls at a lower price point, but the quality is greatly lacking.
When the first unit arrived, there was outward damage to the box (not terribly battered, but certainly some dings), I attributed the scuff and broken corners to carrier mishandling. Amazon, as usual, was very prompt at coordinating replacement, and the new package arrived in pristine condition with all shelving pieces intact.
However, upon assembly, I quickly discovered that the composition of the “boards” was abysmal. The particle board is entirely lacking in heft and barely coated with an enamel layer. [The slightest of scratches would undoubtedly reveal the pulp below.] Structurally, the internal shelves are joined only with wooden dowels (16), and the outer frame with dowels and cam locks (8).
The assembly is not complex, but there are no screws to secure the initial pieces. As such, when placing top/bottom (no real orientation as it can easily be flipped), the supports are prone to shift as you are attempting to align the holes. As I was assembling, one of the dowels must have angled slightly (no significant force applied), and broke off a piece of the enamel (see photo). While the breakage occurred in an area that is not immediately visible, this easily could have happened in a more prominent spot.
Although not outwardly visible [I did not think to take a photo while assembling], there was also a larger drilled hole (definitely a manufacturer error) at the top of one of the side supports. Additionally, unlike other companies, Closetmaid apparently sends parts “loose” in a single outer bag with no spares. So, if the factory count is off or a screw’s thread is faulty, do not expect to complete your assembly.
As similarly noted by a few other reviewers, I had purchased this unit with the intent of housing my vinyl record collection. However, while the bottom row might still serve this purpose, I would definitely not trust the upper tier to support much weight (again, barely-there particle board and some wooden dowels).
I am ultimately keeping the unit as I do not wish to go through the process of disassembling and returning (again). Still, I will never be purchasing another product from this company.
