Product Description
Neutral Density filters reduce the amount of light passing through the camera lens without changing the color of the scene. They are especially useful in bright light conditions to help prevent overexposure. Neutral Density filters also allow proper exposure at a wider lens opening for reduced depth-of-field to highlight a key subject by making the foreground and/or background out of focus. Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a closely guarded proprietary process that entails permanently laminating the filter material in between two pieces of optical glass that are ground flat to tolerances of a ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounting them in precision metal rings.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2014Size: 52mmPattern: FilterVerified PurchaseIf you are not using Neutral Density filters, you are missing out on an easy, simple and inexpensive means to improve your photography (and videography if you're shooting DSLR). ND filters allow you to shoot with a wide aperture without over-exposing your images. While you can stop down your lens to compensate for bright lighting, you will increase your depth of field and loose the "bokeh" -background blur - of the wider aperture. An ND filter allows you to shoot with aperture open, maintain a shallow depth of field (desirable for video) keep the details in the highlights and preserve a nice color balance. ND filters can cost $100+ but this Tiffen does a great job a fraction of the cost. I use it for still and video images and I'm very satisfied with the results. At this price, it is a good starting point and my just be enough for you now and in the future.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2024Size: 55mmPattern: FilterVerified PurchaseI feel like I'm saying the same words over and over again. I got a new camera for my bday and I needed to get filters for it. I will trust tiffin any day of the week. Quality is outstanding. The only issue I have for me, is it's hard for me to get the case open that stored the lens.. I'm sure other people have way better grip than I do. So don't let that deter you in getting these lenses
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2014Size: 77mmPattern: FilterVerified PurchaseThis filter is a 2 stop filter. This means its dark but not so dark to change bright daylight into night.
Its ideal for shooting waterfall flow images, sunset/sunrise and portraits with dark background using external flash.
The good thing about 2-3 stops filters is, you can take pictures handheld most of the times.
The exposure is reduced by 2 stops, the shutter speed comes in the range of 1/100 to 1/50 of a sec, which for a stable hand shouldn't be a problem.
The filter has threads on it, hence can be used to mount more filters on it.
Highly recommended for nature lovers.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2011Size: 72mmPattern: FilterVerified Purchasethis review is for the few of us that know what we are buying but are also trying to save a bit of money. the adage goes, "if you have enough money to spend on that lens that costs x-amount of money, you should be able to afford a filter that compliments it." this is true. but some of us need to save a few bucks and this is one of those areas that some feel you can be a little cheaper. so if this describes you, then this review is for you. its quick and its dirty and I have no data to support any of my statements other than my own observation and experience with this product.
putting on this filter, i see no problems. new out of box, the threads seem to fit well without being too tight or too loose. the filter seems to be evenly tinted without any darker spots throughout the transparent medium. like i said, I haven't done any "science" to verify this. image quality has no suffered due to using these filters. i shoot medium to pro glass and i haven't seen any noticeable difference in resolution. im happy with the color accuracy across the frame. I have not tested the amount this filter protects against weather or dust. But since I don't generally find myself forced to shoot in precipitously challenging situations, I have not had to worry about it.
all in all, this is a decent filter. i will buy more in the future. But I have a feeling if I find myself in a situation where I'm being paid a bunch more the work, i'd probably suck it up and purchase a different brand filter.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2011Size: 58mmPattern: FilterVerified PurchaseI use this filter predominately for waterfall shots as it helps me achieve a longer shot without having the water be washed out white. This filter has held up to a steady state of abuse from being in the field taking pictures and has shown no signs of wear. Also, a 0.6 is perfect for the applications I use it for, waterfalls. If you are looking for a great low cost neutral density filter, buy this product.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2013Size: 52mmPattern: FilterVerified PurchaseI was seriously skeptical about the quality of glass and the possibility of a blue color cast. I was WRONG. I am so glad I spent the whopping $11 on this filter. I shoot Canon L quality glass, although this particular filter I put on the 50mm 1.8 lens (cheap but awesome) ... the clarity and sharpness did not suffer at all and there was absolutely no color cast. So far I've only shot using this for help in getting a shallower DOF when using my studio strobes outside. I highly recommend this filter for any strobist lovers, you can't beat the price .. next I'm getting a 82mm filter for my super wide and trying out the .9 level. This review is for the .6 ND. I plan on trying some waterfalls with it next, can't wait!!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2010Size: 58mmPattern: FilterVerified PurchaseI bought this ND lens to try to capture the flowing techniques of water and wind. I had to play a little with the shutter speed to get the photos just right, but I had a lot of fun photographing a windy Iowa day. (See my photo under Customer photos here). While I think a .9 would be better for the wind shots, I am very pleased with the results of my first experiment. I can't wait to try it on water. A tripod is a must for these kinds of photos. I am also looking forward to experimenting with panning shots for background blur. The photos I took turned out sharp where needed (Tree trunks). I am very pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for this type of lens. It worked great with my Canon Rebel XT digital SLR.

3.0 out of 5 stars Attention aux références des fabricants

5.0 out of 5 stars Tutto secondo le aspettative!
