I had my eye on some work pants that would last forever. Filson has some oil tin cloth pants that are stellar, but 200 bucks. So I got the idea to use some cheaper tough canvas work pants and try to wax/oil my pants on my own.
First off, these pants on their own are tough as nails and already going to keep the elements out. But after adding a layer of melted fabric wax/oil, they are out of this world. Water proof, but still super comfy. I can see these lasting for quite a while.
Takes some patience working with melted wax and pressing it into the cloth and cleaning up all the goop and taking some long hours to work it all in with your fingers (Netflix binged while doing that), but I am super happy with the result.
