- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2017Size: SmallColor: Carbon and MolassesVerified PurchaseI bought this to replace a fossil messenger bag. I own a timbuk2 backpack, roller luggage and hybrid backpack/messenger bag as well. Timbuk2 quality is hard to match, the command laptop messenger bag is no exception. I purchase 2 colors (Carbon/Molasses and Surplus) in size SMALL as i wanted something professional but not boring/stiff. I felt the Surplus color and texture just wasn't as polished as the Carbon & Molasses. At the same time i also purchased the Timbuk2 Closer Case in Small & Medium, however the medium was still smaller than the Command Small. I thought the slimmer size of the Closer Case might provide a clean look, however, it was still too small and the style of the Command bag, especially in C/M color is a very clean, sleek looking bag. Size small is still a larger messenger bag, but will not fit my 17" MSI laptop, should fit a 15" no problem. My MS Surface Pro fits with plenty of room to spare, which is what i purchased this bag to hold.
Pro:
1. Aluminum Hooks, though takes a minute to learn how to rotate the hook as some other reviewers have mentioned, after a couple times it's no easier/harder than a standard push-button clip style.
2. Napoleon side pocket on flap, AWESOME for going through TSA at airport to throw your keys, phone etc in (I'm pre-check so i cannot speak about the TSA approved benefits of this bag).
3. Cam Buckle lock, super awesome and convenient. Stows easily under seat in front of you, even on smaller planes.
4. Plenty of internal pockets for organization.
5. Texture of Carbon color material is really awesome, and very unique, will def. make people look twice at it. Surplus color did not have this texture
Cons:
1. minor but because I'm left-handed and the bag goes over the left side of my body (strap on right shoulder, bag on left of body), the water bottle pouch ends up being on the backside of the bag, this is just part of being a lefty in a right-hander's world.
2. more of an annoyance, the bottom of the bag is angled towards the front of the bag, so if you set it down it tends to fall forward, laying on bag face.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2016I love this thing. It's incredibly sturdy and well-designed. My only complaint is that it's a bit too big, but that's my fault -- I ordered the largest size so I could fit my laptop in it, but I'm a 5' 2" tall woman, so it kind of dwarfs me. But it holds all my stuff! The inside is easy to wipe down if my lunch spills! It's waterproof! The strap is really well padded! It has a cross-strap so I can use it during my bike commute! The water bottle holder is perfect!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2016By all measurements of my laptop, Timbuk2 required that I order the large bag. It is indeed large. A bit too large, really. I did not want to risk getting the medium size and find my laptop split the seams, so now I carry a piece of luggage rather than just a briefcase or reasonable size messenger bag.
Other than that, it is really well made and nicely designed as a mobile office support bag. I have yet to figure out the optimal arrangement of accessories in the various pockets, but there seems to be enough room for everything and then some. I envisioned it as being capable of carrying everything I would need for a long day at work (food bits and incidentals) and/or a simple overnight business trip (a change of undergarments and a fresh shirt with some toiletries) along with the laptop, cords, peripherals, some files and books. It can do that.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2017This is the best messenger bag ever. I needed something to cart around my big gaming laptop , travel perfectly between airports , and also be good for daily office visits. This fit the bill perfectly. You won't be able to split this in half for the TSA check everywhere (For example BWI still makes you take your laptop out) but for the most part it works great! Even if you still have to remove your laptop for TSA screening, being able to pop one zipper to get your laptop out is very nice.
This bag also attaches nicely to the extended arm on rolling suitcases (Velcro on the back of the bag). I typically "carry on", a hard sided pilots case because my trips are short, plus this bag. I don't even notice I am dragging it through an airport.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2017Sturdy, solid build. I had a commuter 2013, and I didn't like the floppiness, inner pockets and lack of easy access outer pockets. My stuff was rolling around all the time. The command has a nice sturdy feel. I use the easy access pockets for sunglasses, keys, work ID/lanyard storage, and wallet. I thought the closures would be annoying. Instead its about as inconvenient as clipped in tabs. Has just the right amount of inner storage for me. I have a grid it for more organization.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2018Overall, it's a pretty good bag. I've owned four Timbuk2 bags over the course of the last 18 years, but this is the first one where I can objectively say "I wished I'd chosen differently." Don't get me wrong, it looks good. It's durable and professional looking. I don't hesitate taking it to a meeting or on a flight. It goes well with professional clothing. 95% of the time, I'm satisfied.
But. The strap. Oh, the strap. At the worst possible time, the adjustable strap will come undone. Leaving a meeting. Getting off a plane or the metro or out of a car. The buckle will just be loose enough and there it goes. I like the rationale behind making it adjustable, but in practice, it's a failure. As others have noted, there's not much point in making the strap adjustable, how often do you really need to change it, maybe twice a year? I've had this since August 2017, it's now January 2018. I've only needed to actually adjust it once maybe.
I'd buy it again, probably, but just be prepared to deal with the strap.

2.0 out of 5 stars

3.0 out of 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars
