Where Does Delphi Quality Come From?
OE Engineered
Our parts are engineered with the same stringent standards applied to the parts we make for the top global OEMs.
Durability Tested
Our rigorous testing ensures reliability and readiness for the road ahead. In fact, our parts are tested up to 150,000 miles and in more than 20% ethanol.
For Over 80 Years
Our expertise goes back to the beginning and we’re still innovating today. We’ve been a manufacturer of dependable fuel delivery parts for over 80 years.
Innovative Design
We utilize the latest OE technology and components to bring OE quality and durability to our fuel line and even make enhancements over some OE designs. In fact, we hold more than 30 OE-proprietary innovations and patents in fuel alone.

Fueled by Innovation: Delphi's OE DNA
When it comes to choosing the parts for fuel delivery systems, reach for the brand that delivers the most advantages: Delphi. In the aftermarket, we’re best known for our fuel management program. As a world manufacturer in fuel pump technology and an OE manufacturer, we apply our high quality standards to every part we sell.
Why Do Fuel Pumps Fail?
OE fuel modules and hanger/senders, which house the electric fuel pump, typically operate for 7-10 years before failure, depending on a variety of circumstances. Premature failures can be caused by:
- Extreme hot/cold environments
- Contaminated fuel, which can cause rust or corrosion
- Excessively running a vehicle on an empty tank. Running near empty does not keep the fuel pump fully submerged and can cause the pump to overheat.
- 21% of returned fuel pumps failed because they operated in a contaminated system. Before installing a new pump, make sure to visually inspect for dirt, rust or discoloration.
Tech Tips
Start Your New Pump in a Clean Environment
Replacing the fuel pump strainer is required, but it is not enough if the tank is dirty. Make sure to inspect and clean the fuel tank as well.
Clogged filters are a leading cause of premature pump failure, so replace the fuel filter if it is not internal to the assembly. Internal filters are not serviced separately.
A Pressure Test is Not Enough to Condemn the Pump
High fuel pressure can often be attributed to a fuel pressure regulator issue or a restriction in the return line. The engine may run rich or fuel trims may be elevated.
Low fuel pressure can be caused by insufficient power or ground to the fuel pump or a malfunctioning fuel pressure regulator. Contamination in the system can cause restrictions to the fuel feed lines, fuel strainer, or fuel filter.
No pressure can be due to a faulty relay, fuse, wire harness, or oil pressure switch, tripped inertia switch, or dried test fluid.
What to Check Prior to Repair
The pump may not necessarily be the cause of fuel-related driveability problems or failures. So make sure to:
1. Confirm there is fuel in the fuel tank
2. Check fuel pressure
3. Check flow
4. Check fuel filter and pressure regulator
5. Perform a voltage drop test
6. Check electrical connections
7. Clean tank and inspect for debris

What Tools Will I Need?
Safety glasses and gloves are always recommended. Delphi also recommends a digital voltmeter, pressure gauge, and graduated cylinder. You should always have a fire extinguisher on hand.
Safety first
Never smoke or work near anything that could cause a spark or ignite fuel, such as pilot lights or incandescent light bulbs. Work in a well-ventilated area. Keep clean-up materials on hand, and clean up any spills immediately.
Always relieve fuel pressure prior to opening fuel systems. Store fuel in an approved container like a gas caddy or gas can.

Fuel Module Assemblies
The Delphi fuel module is a complete assembly, meaning that all the necessary components, like filters and strainers, are included for easier installation. It's a complete repair in a box, backed by smart designs, and extreme testing.

Hanger Pump Assemblies
Delphi fuel pump hanger/sender assemblies are a complete repair in a box: with one SKU, you get an OE pump, fuel and vapor pipes and valves, a fuel level sensor, plus OE connections for fuel and vapor lines. Like all of our fuel delivery parts, our hanger pumps provide clean and adequate fuel flow in all engine operating conditions.

Electric Fuel Pumps
Our patented Gen IV turbine pump provides better pumping with less energy use and withstands today's harsh alcohol fuel blends. It delivers fast fuel pressure rise for fast engine starts.
Delphi electric fuel pumps are designed for a flawless electrical installation and are rigorously tested to withstand extreme temperatures and operate even with low voltage.

And More
Delphi also offers diesel feed/transfer pumps, hanger senders, fuel strainers/filters, mechanical fuel pumps and fuel accessories like wire harnesses, lock rings, check valves and more.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2018Bought this in April for my 2007 chevy colorado and has already gave out I hope to get a new one will call Delphi, will update.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2018Well made. Looks like it's made with better materials that the original. So far no complaints.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2021Maybe I had bad luck, but this pump isn’t giving my truck that extra push that the cheap economy pump I had in did.
My cheap pump worked great, but I made the mistake of replacing it with what I assumed would be the most reliable and best performing pump, as I had to replace my fuel tank and didn’t want to risk having to dig in there again if the cheap pump failed.
I really regret it.
So I’ve been reading specs on the different pumps and see Delphi is only 18 gallons per hour, where the cheaper TYC pump I put in was 44-47 gallons per hour.
If I’m reading these flow rates correctly, then that would explain the lack of power. The stock GM and AC Delco pump doesn’t list the flow rate where I’ve looked, but read somewhere in a forum that they’re about 24 gallons per hour. Not much more than Delphi’s pumps here.
Then there’s Airtex and Autobest, where their specs say the flow rates are from 55 gallons per hour to 70 GPH.
I am also suspicious of the used replacement fuel tank not being properly cleaned by the mechanics who put the Delphi pump in, where in that case it would cause the low power. (Always manually clean you tank before replacing).
