      Very heavy duty ratchet. I used this to support a tree in my yard that had started to lean, and this thing worked great. I previously had a cheaper one that would keep slipping as I increased the tension. This one easily handled all the tension I needed to support the tree. This is the second one I've purchased to support another tree in my yard.

      These work just as I expected and they seem really heavy duty. I've had lots of the smaller version in various brands and forms and they're often kinda crappy with metal too thin to stand up to use. Not these.

      After using this item the first time I use it I had to unwind by hand wich is complicated, not like just pulling it loose. I thought perhaps the strap had started off to one side causing a binding. Upon using it a second time, making sure the strap was even I still could not release the strap after completion of the task. Once again an annoying, not easy task of unwinding. I then noticed that one of the two posts in the center where the strap goes through to get the ratchet started was bent. I am currently in communication with the manufacturer for a replacement.

      Here's the problem with these things; look closely at the picture and you'll see how short the fixed end of this is. For tying down vehicles, the ratchet mechanism is too close to the attachment point. Even if I reverse them, there's no room to operate the ratchet against the trailer. I compared these to another set I had, and sure enough, there was a good 12" of extra strap on the fixed side of them.

      Very disappointing. Some manufacturer tried to save 11 cents per unit and ended up making them all but useless.
