FAQs

My original master cylinder leaked out of the back of the piston into the booster area. Why?

  • Check booster for a defective push rod seal. If this seal is bad, it could drain the brake fluid out of the master cylinder.

I replaced the master cylinder and now the pedal is high and hard. Why?

    Perfect Fitment

    Perfect Fitment
My 1975 Datsun 280Z brakes were failing. I ordered a new OEM brake booster replacement and an "upgraded" Wilwood 1" master cylinder to prepare for a rear brake upgrade. The Wilwood unit brake line outlets don't fit a Nissan/Datsun because they are SAE thread instead of Metric. No one has conversion fittings in stock and I ended up having to buy this unit. Fitment was exactly like OEM and has been working great. No headaches.

This will work fine for a series 1, but you must swap the brake hard lines front to back on the MC. The stock MC has these opposite. Just pull both lines and swap them with the "rear" line running in front of the block below to the "rear" connector on the MC, then bend the "front" line, and come up behind the brake manifold across to the "front" connection on the MC. The Front on the MC has the larger reservoir. your stock, should have the reservoir on the back.

Very pleased with this part. Even though it was priced very affordably, I was very happy with the quality of manufacture and materials. Bolted right on to my '73 260z, with no leaks first time. Highly recommend!

Bought this for my Datsun 280Z to replace the leaky unit currently on my car. I think this is a universal unit because the side bleed screws were on the opposite side as the original master cylinder bleeders. I went to bench bleed it and the smaller reservoir was clogged or not working. Sent back to Cardone and decided just to get a Wilwood 1 inch MC
