Kershaw Link Knives
Sleek and lightweight, the Kershaw Link family series of knives offer Kershaw quality at an affordable price. Given the patriotic model number of 1776, the Link offers a drop-point blade constructed of strong, durable and reliable steel. Higher amounts of carbon and chromium boost hardenability and corrosion resistance in the blade. The excellent everyday steel is easy to sharpen, tough and takes a good edge. The glass-filled nylon handles provide a comfortable and secure grip that feels solid in the hand. Made in the America, the Link series are high quality, high performing knives.
Link Features
High-Performance Steel
Extra strong, modified 420HC steel has a higher carbon and chromium production, is easy to sharpen and is durable when in constant use. The 420HC steel composition has excellent corrosion resistance and is a tremendous everyday steel. Heat treated will good edge retention, 420HC steel has a high chromium and carbon content that provides superior abrasion resistance and edge holding capabilities.
Attractive Blade Coating
Depending on the knife’s design, Kershaw’s non-reflective stonewashed finish may be either pronounced or subtle, but in both cases, it transforms the blade by creating a fade-resistant, scuffed look that hides smudges and fingerprints. A stonewashed finish, achieved by tumbling a blade with ceramic stones, enhances a blade’s rugged appearance as well as its indestructibility during field use.
Black oxide coating is a chemical bath, or conversion coating, that converts the surface of the blade steel to magnetite. Mainly for appearance, black oxide does add some mild corrosion resistance and tends to minimize light reflection from the blade. The blackening process gives the blade an attractive, smooth, tactical, fierce black surface that is very desirable to knife owners.
Fast Deployment
Using a torsion bar to move the blade out of the handle, Kershaw’s revolutionary SpeedSafe Assisted Opening system enables smooth, secure, fast one-handed blade deployment. Apply manual pressure to the flipper or thumb stud with a light push or pull back to overcome resistance of the torsion bar, and the blade opens smoothly and locks into place for confident handling without premature closure.
Secure Locking System
With two steel plates, or liners, on the inside of each handle scale, the liner locking system safely secures the blade open and prevents unwanted blade closure. The lockbar butts up against the blade’s backend to prevent closure, and angles or is bent towards the blade tang creating a bias locked position. Apply manual force to move the lockbar to the side and fold the blade back into the handle.
Additional Features
One-Handed Flipper
Knives with SpeedSafe open have two options for one-handed blade deployment. To activate the smooth, instant open, user can push a thumbstud or press a flipper. The flipper on SpeedSafe assisted knives is easy to operate by both left- and right-handed users. And, once blade swings open and locks into place, flipper either disappears for aesthetics or remains visible for added finger protection.
Durable Handle
Very tough, able to take heavy-duty hard use, and versatile, glass-filled nylon handle material is a nylon synthetic polymer reinforced with glass threads for increased strength. Glass-filled nylon has incredible stiffness for a secure and stable grip, great ability to withstand heat, and dimensional stability combined with excellent wear resistance.
Convenient Pocketclip
Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. A pocketclip with tip-up carry is positioned so the closed knife carries in the pocket with the tip of its blade pointed upwards. A reversible tip-up or tip-down pocketclip allows user to change tip position.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2017This is an excellent EDC/ utility knife - sharp as heck right out of the box. I'm a fan of tanto blades and multi-tooth serrations (for example, the Kershaw Ken Onion "Blur") .This blade is slightly tanto and serrated just enough which I find fine for most utility tasks. The clip is a little bit on the tight side, but that is not a negative for me. The thumb flick was a little resistant when I first started using the knife, but a tiny squirt of WD-40 solved that issue, and it opens almost instantly. This Kershaw is made in the good ol' USA (Tualatin, Oregon), which was a major selling point for me, even though Kershaw is now owned by a Japanese concern. The blackwash finish is smooth and gives this knife a handsome understated look.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2018Very good quality. Actually was surprised. Some of the reviews said that the lock and thumb opening lever was too tight. Maybe that problem was fixed. I have no issues with it opening hard NOR too easy. The lock seems strong and releases with one thumb. The pocket clip is a bit snug, but you can still get it to open enough to slide onto Jeans or Dickie pockets with a thumb .
Yes , it is a little bulkier than the G brand I've carried for years. I abused that one, it's still ok, but was time to treat myself to a new knife.
Arrived with a sharp edge and smart look. No blade wobble, seems quite sturdy.
Very pleased.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2018This is my second purchase of this knife. Sadly I lost the first one. I’ve been carrying this knife for over a year now and it has work perfectly. It comes very sharp out of the box and is easy to sharpen. The knife looks great and wears well too. The spring assist opens quick every time. It’s easy to clean as we. Overall it’s a great knife at a reasonable price.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2017quality construction. sharp. tip down orientation. however 4 stars because i wanted to move the clip to the other side so i could hang it on my right belt under my shirt and since the allen socket is so small, no matter which one of my wrenches i used i could not remove the screws. now they're both rounded off and unremovable. now it's only able to be worn on my left side. :(
update july 2017: their tech support told me the exact small torx screw size, so i bought the wrench, remove them, and loctited them into the other side. perfect now!!

Con: one of the teeth on the serrated portion broke at the point while I was cutting a ordinary zip tie.
I still carry this knife every day.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2018I own several different Kershaws, Gerber and many other different brands. I liked the looks of this knife so I took a chance on it. I like Kershaw anyway. This knife is awesome. Came razor sharp out of the box and passed the shave test with flying colors. I love the feel of the handles. Just enough grip that it stays firmly in your hand but still slides out of your pocket very easily. And the pocket clip is designed so the knife carries tip up. Buy one, you won’t be disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2017This blade outperforms its price-point by at least $100.00. It is well respected in the military and knife enthusiast communities. If you need one EDC general purpose knife and don't want to burn your wallet or you need a secondary work-horse so you don't beat up your primary blade the Link will not disappoint. It looks great, performs great and is comfortable in the hand with smooth speed-safe opening.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2018The knife is awesome, great quality and made in USA. However, the clip broke off after a few days. I was walking by a stair rail and it snagged it and broke. Probably should be made or softer metal that bends instead of something brittle that breaks.
But I emailed Kershaw and they instantly sent me a replacement clip for free without asking for anything so their customer service is great. Plus free lifetime sharpening and replacement blades for only $10 are awesome.
