I don't know why this product was so hard to find, but it's what you need if you want to use a professional office-style headset with a normal home phone. Once I finally found it, ordering and setup were a breeze.
Haven't figured out if it's possible to pick up the line with the speaker phone and then use the base station or cordless handset to dial (believe you MUST pick up the line with whatever device you want to use to dial) but it's still a lot better than buying a corded desk phone and a handset lifter IMO.
