I recently became interested in woodturning and decided to purchase the 10"x18"lathe from HF which is also sold by other companies. While HF does not carry a bed extension, they are available for RIKON and Excelsior. When you compare all these lathes, one can come to the conclusion that they are likely manufactured at the same place with different finishes. Though I could have saved a little money and purchased the Excelsior bed extension from Rockler, I decided to get it from Amazon because of its two day shipping. RIKON's bed extension fit in my HF lathe as if was meant to... It did take a little bit of time to ensure the tables were aligned properly before tightening the bolts but I assume this is normal even if it was to be installed in the RIKON lathe. I did have to remove the nuts that came with the rubber feet since my HF does not have this space in theirs. It is true that for the price I could have just bought the 12"x33" HF lathe, but I wanted something that could be stored away and this bed extension compliments the lathe when I need more turning area. I will add that I am no expert by any means just your typical DIY person buying toys to create things.
