The E-Z Slides and BunkEnders are molded from a slippery plastic composite.

  • Q. How far apart should I place my E-Z slides?

The E-Z Slides should be placed approximately 12”-18" apart.

  • Q. Can I use E-Z Slides with a Painted Bottom Boat?

It is not recommended. While the pads will slide fine on a painted bottom, they may abrade or scratch the bottom paint where it contacts the slides.

  • Q. How do I mount the E-Z Slides and BunkEnders?

The E-Z Slides and BunkEnders mount directly to your trailer bunks, over carpeted or bare bunks. Drill 1/8" pilot hole through one of the mounting holes and attach the pad with a stainless steel screw (supplied). Make sure other end of pad is flushed with the bunk and repeat. Do not over-tighten screw - as damage to the trailer slide may result. Be sure that the screw head is level and fully set into the screw well so that the head is below the surface of the pad. Screw heads on an improperly installed trailer slide can scratch or gouge the bottom of your boat.

  • Q. How do I care for the E-Z Slides and BunkEnders?

The pads should be wiped clean of road grit each time before loading the boat. Inspect the pads to ensure that the pads are secure, the screws remain tight, and that no undue wear is occurring on the pads. The pads should be removed if undue wear is occurring on the pads or on the boat.

Instead of buying a bunch of the smaller pads, get these and run them through the table saw to split them into two pieces. I purchased 1 package of these and was able to cover two 9 foot bunk boards with about a 2 inch gap between them. These work great also. The boat slides on/off much easier now.

    I added these to a small flatbed utility trailer that I use to haul a 10ft, 2 person boat. They work great, allowing the two pontoons to easily glide on and off. I spaced them out evenly along the 8 ft length of the trailer bed on both sides. The recessed screw holes allow for a firm mount without scratching the hull.

    I have only used them twice and they have worked fine but I want to share an installation experience. I installed them over carpet. Per the instructions, I used a drill driver to get the screws in and then hand tightened them for the final turn or two so I would not over tighten them. When completed all of the screw heads were below the surface of the pad. When loading my 21' aluminum boat I could tell something was not right so I got it off of the trailer and found that a couple of screw heads were now higher than the pad and resulted in some scratches to the bottom of the boat. After looking the situation over it appeared the weight of the boat compressed the pads against the carpet which resulted in a couple of the screw heads being higher than the pad. I went back with the drill driver and further tightened each of the screws. I was able to tighten each screw more due to compression of the carpet. I then reloaded the boat and it went on nicely. When I launched the boat a week later it came off of the trailer easily and then I checked the screws to see if they needed any additional tightening. Most of them turned a little bit when I put the drill driver to them. Based on my experience, I suggest if you are installing over carpet you need to tighten more than the instructions suggest. It is also important to have a screw driver and drill driver bit that fit the screw head well. The screw heads require a wide Phillips pattern and if a narrow pattern is used it is easy to strip the head out because the screw heads are a little on the soft side.

    I bought a couple sets of these and used them on 2 different trailers and boats. One trailer uses them on the primary bunks while the other uses them only on the front bunks. The ones used on my primary bunks cracked and compressed allowing the heads of the screws to gouge my gelcoat. I did not notice any weight limits on Amazon when ordering them but did see it listed on the product paperwork. The fact that they are not solid like the Surfix brand ones leads me to believe that is why they failed. They did a great job of reducing friction when loading and launching, just wish they were built better.

    I have a 16ft Alumacraft with a 50hp Yamaha. The bunk trailer consists of 2x6x9ft. I ordered the 5 inch slides and mounted them as directed over the existing carpeting. As I do not live on a lake I frequently load and unload the boat at a variety of different landings. I bought these because I often go by myself and wanted something to make it easier to load and unload; these have not disappointed. On shallow boat landings they are terrific, easy on - easy off. One problem than I can see is that on steeper landings the boat slides off/down before I can hook the winch strap. Powering on the trailer requires little effort thus preserving the integrity of the landing. Another advantage is the boat self centers, no more off to one side and less concern about leveling the trailer at the landing. CAUTION - as stated in the directions keep your boat strapped on until it is in the water -- you might end up with your boat on dry land with a lot of damage.

    My only question is how long will they last? Only time will tell but I will be watching them carefully.
