Kershaw always chooses appropriate, top notch materials and is dedicated to intensive craftsmanship of hardworking pocketknives, hunting knives, or special collectors’ editions. Kershaw Link Knives
Sleek and lightweight, the Kershaw Link family series of knives offer Kershaw quality at an affordable price. Given the patriotic model number of 1776, the Link offers a drop-point blade constructed of strong, durable and reliable steel. Higher amounts of carbon and chromium boost hardenability and corrosion resistance in the blade. The excellent everyday steel is easy to sharpen, tough and takes a good edge. The glass-filled nylon handles provide a comfortable and secure grip that feels solid in the hand. Made in the America, the Link series are high quality, high performing knives.
Link Features
High-Performance Steel
Extra strong, modified 420HC steel has a higher carbon and chromium production, is easy to sharpen and is durable when in constant use. The 420HC steel composition has excellent corrosion resistance and is a tremendous everyday steel. Heat treated will good edge retention, 420HC steel has a high chromium and carbon content that provides superior abrasion resistance and edge holding capabilities.
Attractive Blade Finish
Kershaw’s patented Blackwash finish derives from a balanced blend of blade coating and stonewashing. Together the two produce a precisely formulated all-black matte finish impervious to fingerprints, smudges and marring. And, even though the knife itself is brand new, Blackwash projects a well-worn, vintage look popular for blending comfortably with clothes and gear during everyday use and carry.
Fast Deployment
Using a torsion bar to move the blade out of the handle, Kershaw’s revolutionary SpeedSafe Assisted Opening system enables smooth, secure, fast one-handed blade deployment. Apply manual pressure to the flipper or thumb stud with a light push or pull back to overcome resistance of the torsion bar, and the blade opens smoothly and locks into place for confident handling without premature closure.
Secure Locking System
With two steel plates, or liners, on the inside of each handle scale, the liner locking system safely secures the blade open and prevents unwanted blade closure. The lockbar butts up against the blade’s backend to prevent closure, and angles or is bent towards the blade tang creating a bias locked position. Apply manual force to move the lockbar to the side and fold the blade back into the handle.
Additional Features
One-Handed Flipper
Knives with SpeedSafe open have two options for one-handed blade deployment. To activate the smooth, instant open, user can push a thumbstud or press a flipper. The flipper on SpeedSafe assisted knives is easy to operate by both left- and right-handed users. And, once blade swings open and locks into place, flipper either disappears for aesthetics or remains visible for added finger protection.
Durable Handle
Very tough, able to take heavy-duty hard use, and versatile, glass-filled nylon handle material is a nylon synthetic polymer reinforced with glass threads for increased strength. Glass-filled nylon has incredible stiffness for a secure and stable grip, great ability to withstand heat, and dimensional stability combined with excellent wear resistance.
Convenient Pocketclip
Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. A pocketclip with tip-up carry is positioned so the closed knife carries in the pocket with the tip of its blade pointed upwards. A reversible tip-up or tip-down pocketclip allows user to change tip position.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2016Very happy that Kershaw is finally bringing more production back home to the USA. This knife is a fantastic start to what will hopefully become a growing line of affordable, well made, USA produced knives. The ergos on this knife are okay, not personally my favorite. The hump on the back strap of the handle makes for a semi-uncomfortable grip when held in a hammer grip. However, I feel like these days most knife companies design knives to be comfortable for a saber grip, even though you almost never use a saber grip when using a knife in everyday practice. A hammer grip is far more practical, and useful of a grip than a saber grip will ever be, but I digress...
The gray/purple-ish handle color is very attractive and eye-catching. I really love it. I also really love the aggressive looking blade shape that offers a continuous belly with slicing in mind! The blade steel (420HC) is a good compromise between quality and affordability considering it is a USA-made knife that is going to demand a higher price than it's Chinese made counterparts. The blade geometry and grind are always impeccable from Kershaw, so this doesn't even really come into question here. This knife cuts like a beast! Very slicey! The assisted opening is also fantastic, and the blade springs open with authority. Finally, the stone wash blade finish is a nice compliment to an already great looking design. I would recommend this knife any day of the week. This is essentially a ZT knife design at an everyday man's price!
Also, for those that like this knife, Kershaw just released a sneak peak of a new version of this knife to be released in the future. It's going to have red aluminum handle scales and S35VN stainless steel!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2016I love this damn knife. I use the Link as my EDC and keep it sharp effectively with the Smith and Wesson pocket sharpener. The handle and blade are of what appears to be good quality materials and feels extremely sturdy. The length and width of the blade are great for slicing and cutting things. It comes extremely sharp, most likely a 15 degree angle, that stayed for quite a while before needing a sharpening. The blade itself is prone to staining from water and hand oils. Water will remove the oil and leave a light mark and hands will make a dark mark. I encourage buyers to oil their knives a little to avoid staining, but it's hardly an issue. The stonewash is beautiful and the handle matte look is wonderful. The speedsafe took a bit to break in and make very quick, but once it is broken in, it's very nice. There's a satisfying click as the blade locks in that is deeper and louder than any other Kershaw I've owned. This knife is by no means deep carry which is a little annoying to me. Everyone will notice you have a knife in your pocket and will be impressed with how beautiful this knife is. Came packaged in a Kershaw box with bubble wrap, didn't have a single issue with shipping.
Pros: Very sharp, Heavier weight, Great materials, American Made, Cheap
Cons: Blade can stain, dust can collect in the handle easily, not deep carry.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2016The Kershaw link with aluminum handles is an amazing knife for the money! This knife has the fit and finish of a $80+ knife! If I had to rate the ergonomics of the knife I would rate it a B. There is no jimping on the knife, the aluminum doesn't have the same grip as something like G10 and the handle will be small if you have extra large hands. I find the ergonomics to be good enough for an EDC knife and the knife makes up in other ways.
The pocket clip looks great and secretly holds the knife in place. The blade style and geometry is great for cutting and slicing things. I always love Kershaw's assisted opening and this knife is no exception, the blade flies out of the handle. The weight of the knife is great for EDC because it's under 5 ounces. I get compliments all the time on how "cool' the knife looks. The knife is made in the USA! All in all, I would recommend this knife for and EDC role because of the quality and craftsmanship the knife!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2016For a sub-$40 made-in-usa knife, this far exceeded my expectations. The fit and finish of the knife is outstanding, and right out of the box you can tell its got a nice weight and heft to it, without being bulky or cumbersome. The handle is good and stiff, unlike my old Gerber, which had a lot of flex in the handle. The initial quality and feel of this knife is second to none.
The blade itself is great, it was very sharp out of the box, and the thicker spine makes the blade and tip very stiff. I was curious to try the tanto version of this knife, since a tanto knife typically has a stiffer blade and stronger point. I am glad I didn't as this blade shape is more versatile overall, and the blade/point is plenty strong.
I appreciate that Kershaw can make a really well made knife in the US at the ~$40 price point. There are many small volume artisinal knife makers out there now, but you will pay $200+ for a knife of comparable quality. I like to buy US made when I can since I work for a small US based manufacturer. I'd imagine the folks at Kershaw making these knives make about what I do, so its encouraging there is a US manufacturer putting out a high-quality product that it's own workers can afford and enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Muy buena, pero...
