    Added to Jasmines earlier Mills Brothers box set of the 1930's recordings, this later array is not surprisingly full of song titles that only came into being from the 40's and 50's onward. Yet there are occasional blooms of the old mainstays, the vintage mellow tones. In other words, you get a remarkable mix of styles to the backing force, by either very minimal strumming, to swingy small orchestras or hefty twangers...Peppered with well aged ballads that are clearly timeless. The recording quality here is excellent throughout, full & clean.

    But as any Mills Brothers fan would suggest, they have such a delightful approach to any tune, it would be difficult to pin down something they sang that just sits there without complete consumate professional warmth exuded & high standards met consistently. Be warned of course amongst the multitude of tracks you may find yourself purchasing an older armchair, a fireplace and even singing to the pets.

    非常に有名なジャズコーラスグループとして名前だけは知っていたのですが､たまたま
    一曲だけ聴く機会があり､その大らかで飾らない優しいハーモニーが気に入りました｡

    ４枚組で５時間を優に超えるセットで､録音年代から､当然ながら全てモノラル録音です｡
    各曲の録音時間で､３分間を超えるものは､約2割程度で､長い録音時間の曲はありません｡
    ４枚のＣＤレーベルも､なかなか洒落ています｡2013年の企画物のようです。

    オーケストラとの共演では､ソニー･バーク７曲､サイ･オリバー３４曲､ビクター･ヤング２曲
    オーエン･ブラッドリー３曲､トミー･ドーシー２曲､ハル･マッキンタイア１曲というところですが､
    それでも､あくまでもミルス･ブラザーズのコーラスが主体の曲ばかりです｡
    尚､ペギー･リーとのボーカル共演の２曲が収録されています｡

    その他の多数の曲は､さりげなく静かで心地よい生ギターの伴奏のみで､
    とにかく､非常に暖かい歌声ときれいなハーモニー､大らかで本当に心が
    落ち着いてくるような雰囲気を放つ心地よいアルバムです｡
    初めは､そのシンプルなパフォーマンスに何となく物足りない感じもあったのですが
    聴くほどに､その素晴らしさが判ってくるような気がします｡
    さすが兄弟､の息のピッタリ合ったコーラスの質も､肩に力が入った感じではなく
    メンバーの声の質そのものも穏やかで余裕があります｡

    蛇足ながら､妻からは､車にはこのＣＤを積んでおき､穏やかな運転を！､と言われています｡

    以前、格安の輸入中古盤CDを買って「Gloria」がお気に入りだったのですが
    レコードからダイレクトに録音してあり、針飛びまで入っていて……w
    正式に「Gloria」が聴きたくてamazon にて購入
    意外とこの曲が挿入しているCDは少ない様です
    どれもハーモニーが素晴らしいです
    ただ、個人的にはスイングバンドのいきり立ったブラスサウンドは好きでありません
    やはり、ギター一本のボーカル&ハーモニーが好きですね
    残念なのは、CDケース本体の中の裏表紙が折れ曲がっていて、星一つ減らしました
    何れにしても素晴らしいサウンドですね
