I clean this filter regularly and noticed the original started to develop a few small holes, a few years ago. Kept putting it off, but finally broke down and ordered this replacement. Since I already know how to take it out, and I have the torx drive bits to do so, it was easy to install, and works great. Wish I'd done it sooner.

Stickers on packaging and contents all appear to OEM Whirlpool parts and the filter has "Made in US" stamped into it. Fitment was perfect and is identical to the removed filter. and I very carefully inspected all the filter windows and they are all intact, as one would expect with a brand new part. It wasn't cheap! But it works perfectly and has stopped the dish debris from getting circulated when the dishwasher runs. Fundamentally, this was a deliberately poor design that integrated a sensitive repair item that should be pretty cheap to replace (i.e. the filter) into an expensive housing that remains completely functional even though the filter is torn, thus pointlessly adding to landfill simply to replace a failed water filter.

Whirlpool should be ashamed of themselves for this design. It may have saved them a couple of dollars per dishwasher, but ales volumes of dishwashers are generally low and price competition is not sufficiently strong that consumers would make a different choice over a $2 price increase. If you ever go shopping for a new dishwasher, find out how much a water debris filter/accumulator costs and how hard it is to replace before you make the purchase.

Can't do dishes with a bad pump filter. Debris gets all over eber-ting. This is the real deal folks. At a fraction of the price how could you go wrong? I think it's swell and my dishes come out fresh and clean again. It was easy to install. Figuring out what needed to be installed was the key though and that's what costs so much usually when the repair man comes. The answers are out there on the internet though. Fix it yourself, I did and I'm just a guy who like hamburgers.

Our dishwasher was always leaving crud on every load of cleaning dishes. After taking it apart (not all that hard really, just taking out screws), I found that this particular piece was jammed full of crud (right where the clean water would pass through). Online videos said to clean this piece, but that was impossible given the design and how badly it was jammed up. Order this new piece hoping it would fit and fix the issue and it did! Dishwasher works as good as new again (which it never worked that well, the 4 years we've been in our house). It really was not that bad taking apart thee dishwasher and replacing the piece, they are pretty simple machines once you get inside of them. Good luck!

Quality is Ho-Hum... glue is sloppily applied. And ferrous metal screws! Really? Rusting after 1 month, and leaving stains on the plastic below. Honestly... this is really bad for such an overpriced part. Boo. - 1 star.
