It's a steril, thin sponge thick pad, with a slightly harder side.
I was ordered these by health care provider and thought, okay, nice - three stars because they do what they're supposed to do.
Then I reodered them and the price per unit is nuts.
There are a lot of alternatives including taping non-stick guaze together, that does the same thing for -10x the cost.
If your insurance is paying, sure, if not, not worth it.
