Editorial Reviews

Recorded in a non-studio environment - fantastic ambient sound! Theessink has composed a stirring set of songs that seamlessly fuse his unplugged picking, sonorous voice, and three-piece band into the very definition of laid-back comfort. Three singers from Zimbabwe add wonderful harmonies that fill-out the music to magical effect. Such magnificent combinations of seemingly divergent elements drive this splendid album to spine-tingling heights. Theessink doesn't play traditional blues here; instead, he deftly references the genre as one of many stops on his global trek through the Delta, into backwoods folk, and onward to Africa.

Another very good Theessink album released in 2007. Some very evocative tracks including Katrina after the devastating storm that hit New Orleans. It is noted that a number of his songs have a strong social statement which is rather nice in this society where "me and mine" seem to take some precedence for a lot of people and Governments. Music is still one of the poets platforms. This is a very good album consisting of twelve classic sounding blues tracks which have all been written by Hans with the exception of "Run on For a Long Time". Not my favourite album of his but very good never the less.

I heard this CD being played in a music store in Hungary a couple of years ago & knew I wanted it. But too expensive over there. I finally found it on Amazon & am really enjoying the blues/folk music by this international performer. (All songs are in English.)

Good tunes. A blues-flavoured record that is easy to enjoy. If you like Doug Macleod blues this should please. A very pleasant surprise. I also have his cd done with Terry evans and Ry Cooder, called "Delta Time". Also a very good cd. Hans Theessink is the real deal .Give him a listen.
