Was missing the CD with the tracks on it. An important part.

I was disappointed to find that my set did not in fact include a CD, so I can't actually hear the tracks to play along to. I don't know how this was missing as the stuff, (the book and dvd), came together wrapped in plastic. It's not like it got lost in the store or something.
Great Beginner's Resource!

I purchased this book a few days ago and have been going through the lessons, so far I am enjoying it! There's a brief introductory with the basics but right out of the gate when it teaches you about the first string (high E) it has a little sample of music (in classic notation) that you can do right away with the first three notes you'll learn! It might be simple, but it gives you *something* to do with your new knowledge so you get a feeling of immediate progress. The book keeps it coming in similar fashion as you learn the notes in the first position of your fretboard, several chords to strum and songs to utilize that knowledge. The music is a decent selection of different styles and the progression is well paced with plenty of challenges as you go. The CD tracks help you to quickly emulate the sound of the notes and tempo when you are stuck and it's fun to play along with them. I know I get a good dose of satisfaction out of nailing the right notes on time! I really haven't tried the DVD out just yet, so I can't comment on it in a meaningful way. In conclusion: I am thoroughly happy with my purchase and my attitude about trying to learn guitar on my own has improved from "Man, where do I start?" to, "I'm playing music and I just started a few days ago, yeah!". Awesome book, I'd recommend it to any beginning guitarist as a good place to start their journey!
Good Material - Not good audio

I received the package and began to go through the lessons. When I got to the section on the DVD that teaches "Smoke on the Water" the audio was all garbled and skipped a lot. Also on one of the sections that teaches the notes, the audio is not even audible. Overall the product seems to be good material other than the audio problem. I may have a bad copy so I'm taking it back for an exchange.

Just pop in the DVD and get ready to play! this dvd teaches how to play and read TABS and also CHORDS.It also teaches you how to play several songs and read music. Step by step instructions that are nice and slow and easy to pick up. And the best thing about a DVD is that you can rewind and play it back as many times as you want. If you cant afford guitar lessons like myself, buy this set and you're on your way. I highly reccomed this product!
