  • 4TH STRING BROKE WITHIN ONE MONTH!

First-time buyer of carbon strings, and this was the most I've paid for a set in many years. I was expecting to be at least mildly wow-ed, but I felt the brightness of the strings faded rapidly over a couple of weeks, and then the other day I noticed the 4th string fraying at the lower frets. Yesterday it popped mid-song. I don't think I've ever had a string break in less than a month. Maybe it was a set of lemons? But I won't bother buying these again... Oh, and this was after a month of moderate -- at most -- playing. I alternate between three guitars...

  • great tone, however...

I love the tone these strings give me, but I had trouble with the B (2nd) string slipping off at the bridge. I've never had that kind of problem before, I tried re-stringing it a number of times and it just kept slipping off as I tightened the string. I finally gave up and found an old (20-years old, at least) spare B from a set of Augustine I used to use. Surprisingly, it has held up so far, even through a gig. I'm not sure if the problem is because they're carbon, I have had a couple of straight Dyna-core sets on my guitar and really liked them, so I thought I'd try this hybrid. I guess I'll see how the rest of the strings hold up as far as if I'll buy another set of these.
