Works like expected
The drop tuning is not perfect but my band could not tell the difference. Not having to bring an extra guitar to practice for the 3-4 songs we play in drop C is awesome. I have had a regular Whammy before and they are really fun to play with. I also like the true bypass, my guitar sounds natural when it's not engaged. Very happy with this purchase.

Good for sound manglers.
Gets a lot of different sounds. If you're wanting unique sound variations this is great. For realistic detuning, you can only go about 2 steps. Octave harmony would be a great 12 string simulation if the volume of the octave could be controlled. One of the detune settings creates a chorus effect and it's one of the very best chorus sounds I've heard.

If you're buying this for the drop tune bit, save yourself some money and buy the whammy by itself. The droptune makes your sound really muddy and with a lot of hum. The whammy part tho is amazing and ads really a lot to you overall sound.

Does what it's supposed to do -- and then some.

I had a regular Whammy pedal several years back and was inspired to buy this one when I noticed the drop-tuning feature. I've written several songs dropped a half-step, and this pedal makes playing them live so much easier. Instead of making the rest of the band wait while I switch guitars or, worse, re-tune my whole guitar, I just press a button and voila -- I'm drop-tuned. I've only had the pedal for a week but have already used it live and was thrilled with its performance. The other features -- the whammy, the harmonies, the chorus effect -- are all quite useful. I'll be experimenting with this one for weeks/months before I run out of options. I really appreciate the true bypass feature, by the way. It's nice to know that when it's not engaged it has zero effect on my tone. I did notice that when I engage the drop tune feature, it's not perfectly in tune with my chromatic tuner (just a hair flat). But I have a hunch this might be adjustable and will research it further. Even if it's not, it's not perceptible to the ear.

The Digitech Whammy DT has multiple features that make it easier to switch tuning without changing your tuning on your guitar or have to change guitars between songs. Just a click of a button I can drop tune, can play harmony leads, and play octaves . Also the Whammy pedal pitch shift is great for all styles of music.

Can you use the detuning effect and the whammy effect together or can you only use one at a time?
On the DigiTech Whammy DT pedal, you can use both the detune effect and the whammy effect at the same time, but you cannot use the drop tuning (DT) and the whammy effect simultaneously.submitted2 years ago

Does this device also allow me to do a drop D tuning, where only certain strings are determined and others of kit and regular training?

How well does this pedal work with bass guitar?
I don't believe the drop tune effect will work correctly with a bass, but it would work. The sound just may not be ideal. I would recommend giving it a shot before buying it. See how it sounds.submitted6 years ago

Is there way to control the level of the harmonizing effect, or is it just an equal mix between the input notes and outputted harmony?
Unfortunately, there is no way to control the level of the harmonizing effect. It would be an equal mix.
