I have used these for pick-up gigs that we recorded, and the vocal in the live room was good enough to use on the Final Cut! The Beta 87 cannot be beaten in this price range; its clarity and off-axis rejection make them great for any use. There is no reason to spend more for mics you are using on the road or the studio, especially in a live-room setting with the whole band present.

For Voice this Condenser Mic Made my Voice More Clear and on spot. The difference is Day and night from a Beta 87 I was using. The 14-Volt Phantom Power Did the Trick. This is now my main vocal Mic.

A more sensitive mike allows me to play rhythm while singing lead without having to be super close to the Mike.
This is exactly what I was looking for and what I needed.

I initially had to return the first Shure Beta 87A I purchased from Guitar Center due to some minor issues—it was missing a mic clip and had a few scratches. Fortunately, Guitar Center's return process was smooth, and they promptly replaced it with a flawless unit. After using the Beta 58 for over 20 years, I can confidently say the Shure Beta 87A takes clarity to a whole new level. This microphone delivers an incredibly crisp and precise sound that cuts through the mix effortlessly. If you're a seasoned vocalist who values clarity and detail in your performance, this mic is a game-changer. For the price, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better microphone that offers such exceptional clarity. However, one thing to note is that the Beta 87A is less forgiving than dynamic mics when it comes to pitch accuracy. If you tend to go slightly flat or sharp, this mic will make it more noticeable. That's why I would highly recommend it to experienced singers who have honed their craft. If you fit that description, you're going to fall in love with the Shure Beta 87A.

I want touse this device for recording podcasts. To what kind of hardware can I connect this? Would it also work with a Mac and a usb chord? Or only with a zoom recording device?
It will work with a Mac and USB chord. To make things easier I would suggest getting a small mixer to have control over the levels of the mic(s). You just have to make sure that the DAW is compatible with your hardware.
