The weight - the look - the accuracy

The dcb

This sounds like a .22 so it is loud enough to make the neighbors watch.

well built rifle . very well balanced not bad trigger for a 100 plus dollar rifle. took while for it to start to shoot good groups as I cleaned the barrel and thought it was dirty. Put a bsa scope on it never tried the stock one.great stock on it love the checkering

I liked the 11mm rail system better but it works, also make the trigger a little more easy s far a pull weight.

like all air guns mine is pellet picky. seems like 8.44 jsb are good put also like the h and n barracuda8.6 wish other would chime in to let other people get a pellet match or close to what others are shooting

Accuracy, weight, feel of stock. And the Ruger trademark, even if Ruger didn't manufacture the rifle. I have a Ruger Mk 1 bull barrel that I have loved for decades and it's nice to see that red eagle coat of arms again.

Put a decent scope on it! It's a high speed air rifle at .177 cal and unless you are hunting ground squirrels at 20 yards or less the scope is next to useless and likely would self-destruct eventually in a springer rifle like this. I put a Hammers SA3-9x32AO on and my son and I after one afternoon session can keep dime sized groups or smaller at 20, 40 and 50 yards. At 30 feet where I sight in scopes the pellets essentially all go through the same hole.

At long range (50-75+ yards) light weight pellets move faster but get more erratic in their patterns. Using Gamo Premier ultra magnum heavy, 10.5 gr. for general purpose use here. Every rifle has its favorite pellet for certain ranges so I plan to try others. I don't hunt with it so didn't need the sling offered in the combo pack, the comfort of my back porch is just fine as is. The red Ruger trademark discs at the rear of the stock come unglued pretty rapidly. I suggest taking them off and regluing them with a decent super glue.

After three years and at least 2000 pellets, it appears the mainspring broke in two places as it sounds like 3 pellets are launching from a single pull of the trigger. The safety is not always locking as it should. I can't really complain, it quit eating scopes after I installed the Hammers SA3-9X32AO and a heavy duty one piece mount. It had a good run, easily yielding nickel sized groups at 25 yards up until today. Debating what to replace it with in the .177 collection. Maybe a Diana RWS 350, but that's a big jump in price over the Ruger Targis.

One failure to date, the rubber buttpad pulled though its upper retaining screw possibly due to the springer back-forth recoil (I thought it was odd but either the screw was overtorqed or forward momentum of the rifle after firing might have pulled it through). So currently am awaiting a replacement stock assembly from Umarex, individual components like the buttpad apparently are not available.

I should have added that the nice shot groupings I mentioned are using a rifle rest I made. And the 50 yard groupings are more within a 3/4 inch circle. No way I could be that accurate holding with my hands only, even in the prone position. And for those concerned about noise, it seems every springer that comes from Asia arrives over-oiled and even after cleaning the barrel there is excess oil to burn off in the spring and likely piston chamber as well, and that makes it loud. It quiets down a lot after 500 rounds, on a par with our Gamo Whisper Cat NP which also started out loud but now is also quiet.

The Talon feels really solid, the stock is comfortable and the grip is amazing.

The scope is awful. Replace the scope and you got yourself an inexpensive yet well build rifle.

This thing is not quiet. Maybe I lucked out and got a loud one, but I'm pretty sure I crapped myself when I first fired this thing at 9pm, with a cop for a neighbor.. Hopefully it quiets down after its broken in. That being said, I still think it's a solid rifle worth buying, with a great bang for the buck value.

This is a very accurate rifle, I was shooting .25 inch group at 15 yards with about 10 mph side wind, it also has very nice 2 stage trigger
