Das MIDIMATE eX von ESI ist ein USB - MIDI Kabel mit zwei MIDI Anschlüssen und einem USB Anschluss. Da es selbstständig erkennt, ob sich das eingehende Signal um ein Ein- oder Ausgangssignal handelt, ist es nicht mehr notwendig zwischen Ein- und Ausgang zu unterscheiden. Zudem kann das über das Kabel angeschlossene Gerät direkt über den USB Anschluss mit Strom versorgt werden (Power-over-MIDI).
