| Description |
The Mk I first appeared on the beaches of Dieppe in 1942 and despite going on to be a much used and much conveted vehicle, the Mk I suffered from some problems not least of which was it's weight and slow speed. Later in use as specialised armour within Hobart's Funnies, the Churchill tank was the main tank for the Royal Tank Regiments in Normandy frequently giving the British infantry close support in the Normandy cornfields and the dense bocage.
