Originally a product for the Amiga range of computers, Blitz Basic was a massive hit among the homebrew games programming crowd with its easy-to-learn language constructs and advanced graphics and sound handling support.

Now it's been ported over to the PC, allowing a new generation of wannabe games programmers to exercise their creativity and give the professionals a run for their money.

From the off it's only fair to say that Blitz Basic is rooted in the 2D world--there's no support for 3D here so budding Half-Life programmers are out of luck.
