Excerpt From Booklet First Page - - - The first five years of the 1960's saw country music reach a whole new level of exposure and popularity. Artists such as Jim Reeves, Eddy Arnold, Hank Locklin and Johnny Cash began having pop hits with regularity, while a handful of young performers who had broken through with teen oriented material - names like George Hamilton IV, Johnny Tillotson and the Everly Brothers - found a ready audience in country as they and their music matured. Even in Britain, it was now quite common to find a genuine Nashville-made record high in the pop chart, whether a tear jerking ballad such as Burl Ives' A Little Bitty Tear or Jim Reeves' Welcome to My World, or a jaunty dance tune like Don Gibson's Sea of Heartbreak or Marty Robbins' Devil Woman.
