A vivid and dramatic English-language exploration of Barb Jungr's European roots, Chanson: The Space In Between, takes the listener on a moving journey to places known and imagined. Cole Porter's "I Love Paris" is one of the latter but no less evocative than, say, the less well-known--to non-French listeners--genuinely French songs by Jacques Brel: "Les Marquises", "Marieke" and "Ne Me Quitte Pas" ("Don't Leave Me"). Interestingly, Barb sings a new translation of the lyric for the latter, by Des De Moor, rather than the more familiar Rod McKuen words.
