Originally released as the industry's first modular DSL residential modem/router, the Actiontec M1000 was designed for broadband service providers who wanted to provide an affordable base unit to their customers, with the option for upgrades and add-on extensions. It is a one-port Ethernet and USB ADSL2+ modem that features integrated wired networking, a loop reach of 18,000 feet using ADSL and 18,600 feet using ADSL 2, and security features such as firewall, NAT, website blocking, Stateful Packet Inspection, internet traffic logging, and DOS protection. Modular add-ons snap directly into the base unit, and include options like a HomePlug AV adapter, a VoIP adapter, a wireless expansion module, and a 4-port Ethernet switch.
